So the 2nd trailer looked pretty good, but it's got me wondering if this game will be able to stand up against San Andeas, a game from the last generation that I really put a lot of hours into... To the point that I probably spent more time exploring the state (usually while playing co-op) and just trying to mess with the game or create the highest level of massacre possible ( mashing in health and weapons cheats as fast as possible was a big part of my experience).

There's a part of me that really wants to flip on K-Rose and just tear through the country side looking for oddities added in by the maker's of the game...

Anyone else hoping to see some awesome game world stuff? (it's what GTAIV was lacking)

considering GTA has gone in quite a serious direction im doubtful that 5 will contain any of the crazy stuff that san andreas had but u never know. goin on what the trailers contained they have put a lot of attention to details so it could be good. gta 4 was the worst gta game ive played and in general quite a bad game imo so im not too hyped about this game. it definitely wont be a day 1 buy for me

I disagree, GTA IV gave us a breathing city. I am excited for this one. Saints Row the Third was a big disappointment for me (Just Cause 2 is way more fun). Kind of hard to compare San Andreas and GTA V since GTA V is not going to be out till next spring.

San Andreas was the best gta along with some of the other ones that came out on the ps2 when gta4 came out they tried to be something they are not and that game was trash.Sadly gta5 is gonna be the same as part 4.I moved onto saints row series and i have not looked back since.Been playing gta since the original gta started back on the ps1

How exactly was GTA4 trying to be something it's not? What fundamental changes were made to the gameplay?

GTA4 was great so i definately think they won't dissapoint. im excited to see all the new cars and environments. i actually liked vice city better than san andreas. although i do hope rockstar kicks it up with the graphics in GTA5, i hope they don't recycle too much from gta4. the driving physics are proper though.

im actually a less mayhem kinda player when it comes to GTA (if thats even possible). i try to always be clean in the missions. wear fresh suits and shades and pull up to an assassination in a infernus and kill and go. some movie style stuff lol i always play blem.

Looks like the sentiment here is pretty much the same as mine; I liked GTAIV, it was a great game, but outside the campaign it didn't have recreational sh^t the way san andreas did...And the argument that it's a more lively city and that's why the scope was decreased is kind of a hit and miss statement I'd say... San Andreas had lots of character and creating a more vibrant city doesn't make the game more fun ( it does add atmosphere, but we don't play GTA for it's nuances...)

No other GTA game can compare to San Andreas. Just amazing and breath taking. That game left me in awe...it made you feel like YOU were CJ. Man...just everything being able to swim, sky-diving, flying airplanes, base jumping off buildings in Los Santos, dodging SAM rockets in Area-51 in a Hydra jet. GTA IV couldn't compete with that and I don't think any 3rd-person sandbox game to this date could compete with that...except maybe Saints Row 1. (Another amazing game but I won't get off track) I think Rockstar tried too hard with GTA IV. Grand Theft Auto to me is one of those games that really don't benefit much from the suped up graphics. But that's just my opinion on it. I haven't been reading up on GTA V but I'll probably get hooked into the hype more towards the release date. I don't think any GTA game will ever compare to the San Andreas...I just hope they bring back some of the stuff that was in it...like the whole RPG-like character development.

Im sure it wont be nearly as crazy as San Andreas was but im also sure that V will be the most intense GTA based on the second trailer. Hopefully they have seen what the mod community has done on the PC GTA IV and taken a few clues and i also really hope they put in some cool cheat codes. Turning all people into zombies would be pretty awesome in GTA or even bring back riot mode.

gta san andreas was the pinnacle of the series to me as it felt like a natural progression from the previous one. Bigger maps, and alot more stuff to do. There is nothing else rockstar can do that can outdue san andreas in my opinion. These new gta's are really just retreading the same ground in terms of gameplay. The only thing they can do now is make the locations and story different but the gameplay won't take a leap like that again. Thats why im really glad that rockstar is trying to change with this new mechanic. I just hope the enviromnent does not have the boring/lifeless feeling gta 4 gave aswell. I would be really happy if rockstar also remake san andreas but I don't want realistic graphics just better looking but still the same style.

GTA4 defintely didnt give me a "boring and lifeless" impression at all. Like OP said he like exploring in SA, I liked just roaming around the city jamming to 1979 and cruising around in a helicopter. There was still tons of stuff to do and the city was a damn good one. I didnt like the story of 4 much Vice City and San Andreas had the best stories.

For those hoping for "crazier" missions and activities, the Ballad of Gay Tony was pretty wild and funny.

Thats another thing the stuff in GTA4 is honestly some of the funniest material I have ever seen. The radio commercials and TV shows were just gold. The rush limbaugh parody was hilarious. I pray that Lazlow is back in 5!

VC and SA are still my favorite GTA games. While GTA IV was an impressive accomplishment, it didn't give the same same feel or hook me like the others did. I'm hoping this will change with GTA V.

I don't think or believe GTA5 will beat GTA SA unless it has all cities, perks, cars etc that SA had. The only thing GTA5 will do well in is the huge landscape, it looks huge and i do believe the army and all are back, i'm also hoping the good guns like mini gun etc are back as GTA4 really sucked, so much was taken out of it, the only good thing about GTA4 was online

^ i doubt that, I say it just needs payoffs for people who go off to explore and wander off the beaten path. That's what GTA:SA did well, just the most random things you could find in non-story based areas. GTAIV forgot that in my mind.

In my opinion, GTA: San Andreas is going to very tough to beat. But considering how huge and awesome the previews of GTA V sound, I'm confident Rockstar will be able to make another masterpiece worthy of beating the PS2 classic.
