Just got a PS3 last night and enjoy it alot.  I was wandering, when playing PS2 games can you save them on the HardDrive, or do you need a seperate memory card?  Thanks in advance

You need to set up a virtual memory card on your PS3. Check through your XMB options, i can't tell you exactly where it is, but you can can set one up there and then save your PS2 games in there.

Go to internal memory card under the Game section of the XMB and create an internal memoy card to save the games on. I havent done it but im pretty sure thats what you do.
