So uh, I was considering getting either a 360 or PS3, but the complaints about the Ring of Death and majorly scratched game discs are still being reported on the 360 forums. Anyone have that problem with their PS3? Because it sounds more and more to me that Sony's new machine is constructed much better than Microsoft's. (I currently own a Wii.)Dax207983
I have actually watched a video on youtube about scratched discs and the ps3, it seems that the ps3 can play scratched ps2 discs without a problem. I dont know what sony put into that disc bay but they did a damn good job. Obviously the Ps3 is more reliable than the 360...you can expect sony to put out quality products. If someone has the link to the video that would be nice as well
1. Blu-ray discs have a scratch resistant coating. I put my fingernail to it with moderate pressure. It left a white scratch mark. Wiped it on my pants and it was gone.
2. If you somehow find a way to scratch a blu-ray disc the PS3 does a fantastic job of reading scratched discs. I put a lightly scratched God of War in my ps2 and the beginning cut scene would be jerky. Put it in my ps3 and the scene ran perfectly.
3. The ps3 does not scratch discs of any type. I gently shook my ps3 while it was playing a game to test it. Game still continued to run smooth as butter.
4. Take it from someone who has had both systems (until the other one broke..). The ps3 is built about 10x better then the other system.

Not sure if its the same one you've seen bud, but this sure shows that Blu-Ray is pretty tough =]

you should'nt make your next gen decision by if it scratches discs or not.
Unfortunately not many people find out PS3 or 360 is not the system for them and they complain on the forums.
Both systems will both have great exclusives.
PS3 is better built than 360, let's at least face that fact. (Sony is an electronics company, but that doesn't mean that the 360 is crap)
360 has the most current gen (meaning not including last gen) games and alot of users sinc eit's over a year old.
Just google both systems and pick what suits you best.

360 is a good system and all but it's built like crap 30% - 50% failure rate, I find that built like crap. A lot of people had to rebought 360s after theirs broke after warrenty and my brother was one of them. Please Log In to post.
