What exactly is it? I mean, how is it caused? so many reviewers complain about it....but what causes it??

its when a game rips the screen of your tv :roll:

anyone got pics ? cus everyones been complaining about uncharted demo having it but ive never seen anything which has been described even when spinning in a circle fast etc

ah thanks for that link man, i now udnerstand. maybe i dont see screen tearing because i have a good tv? i have a40in sony bravia full hd 1080p(which the myer guy told me the ps3 was designed with this tv in mind) so it could be that my tv doesnt have such an issue with frame refreshing because like i siad ive never seen it

There is a little tearing in Uncharted, but it's pretty minor. I played through the entire game, and rarely did I ever notice it.

If you have the demo disc for R&C (not the downloadable demo), it had a lot of screen tearing. Insomniac fixed it for the PSN version and the game.

does screen tearing start at the top middle of the screen then works its way up over the next second or two.thats what happened when i was playing drakes fortune on the first jet ski level,thats the only point in the game i noticed it!

It's caused when you get half a frame and half the next frame at the same time on the screen, causing a distinct line between them to appear.

for developers it works as a buffer (framebuffer). it's either THAT or framerate slowdown... i rather have a screen tear now and then.
