Screen tearings a TV issue? Or the games solely suffering from it?

Hey Guys!

I just purchased a Sony Bravia x3500 a few days ago, some bargain. During the course of these days i've been playing PS3 on it, unfortunately I've encountered a few screen tearings present on the games in particular having me VERY worried. I paid alot for the TV. From what i'm aware of the games i've been playing suffers from screen tearings designated by reviews, those of which Uncharted and Heavenly Sword (demos) in addition to that i've been playing Resistance as well which nothing has been indicated about, in terms of tearings and at a few occasions I noticed screen tearings and objects poping up now and then (texture popins?) Albeit, I haven't noticed any screen tearings during movie playback or when watching TV in regular, what so ever. On top of that i've been playing Ratchet ToD as well, without any tearings what so ever.

What worries me is what if my TV is defected in some terms, or have you guys confronted this when gaming? Is there a way ensuring your TV is flawless? I hope it's normal though.

Thanks in advance

You can relax (kind of)...screen tearing is caused by the game, not the TV. Even as PS3 games have solved frame rate issues, it seems like we're still a little behind the times when it comes to the screen tears.

Screen tearing is a side effect of not syncing with the display device. Its quite common now to not sync so to get the most FPS.

The only game I've seen it in is Uncharted....no where else. (Not madden, Ratchet, RFOM, Motorstorm, or any demo)

Me neither among those listed other than RFOM. Would you try RFOM (Nottingham level) I see tearings there for some reason :(
