I havent been able to play this for 2 days because of the whole downloading game settings message. I have tried making new accounts, leaving it for hours, reseting and re-doing my internet connection just about everything and it still comes up and never goes away, ever since the 2.20 update i cannot even play this game online and it sucks mad cornhole, anyone know anything about this problem??
iv reset my router and even put teh ps3 in the dmz zone or whatever so i dotn need to open ports, iv treid giving the ps3 a static ip and doeing it teh easy way but neither method works.
its a dlink WBR-2310, before teh 2.20 update it worked fine except when i turned of teh router then i had to set it up agian in the ps3, but now it wont work at all.
I had to give up on my Linksys wireless router for similar problems and go hardwire to the ps3. As a temporary work-around, I just hooked the PS3 straight to the router and let it download the content and then returned things to their proper locations.
I get the same problem from time to time but, like someone said, just unplug the power to the router for 20 seconds let it resent and just plug it back in should definetly do the trick, (works everytime for me)
/ Also you DO have to quit the game too, becuase for some reason the PS cannot connect while game is running (at least COD4 that is)
before the update when it didnt work i would quite teh game and not sign in then run the game and sign in when asked to while in game and it worked great, not even that method will work after 2.20

Dude, I had this exact problem for a few weeks. It was so bad I ended up stealing an internet connection from someone in the building dumb enough not to make it secure. Very rarely would my PS3 work on my router. I called the cable company and they brought me a different router. Said the NetGear router I was using wasn't that compatible with game systems. Since they gave me the new router, I've had NO problems.
Why don't you just go to the COD4 forums where the answer to this question lies? You need to power cycle all of your equipment and you'll get back on, it's not the games fault - it's a problem existing between the controller and chair.
I can certainly say that is your problem and not the patch's fault, because the patch made gameplay a lot better for me. I was just playing last night, so its happening to everyone.
I know what your talkin about man same thing happens to me...Have to sit there for like 20 min. its crap...i have a netgear router and never reset it i just back out of the game and go back in and it works..early mornings it works fast never see the DL setting screen. Im thinking its something to do with infinity wards servers. I remember a couple of months ago i saw something about they are trying to fix the long setting screen ill see if i can find it.
