Or is it just me? Because every FPS that comes out doesnt attract me. FPS's and other shooters are games that i love to play, but they don't seem to be amazing anymore. Like i remeber the days back in 07 and such when playing GeOW, Halo3, COD4, and shadowrun made my nights. It seems like most devs are taking enough time to produce a great quality, fun game ( IW cough cough). I want to get a new game but none catches my eyes. I want W@W for a WWII shooter but its dead due to BC2 (have on pc) and MW2 which is just plain ridiculous imo.

O as far as single player FPS's go... yeah they suck. You listed GEoW, so I figure you like 3PS's as well... I just finished Splinter Cell Conviction and it was great. Uncharted 2 is one of my favorite shooters... Crysis 2 has some famous novelist working on their story, so hopefully it is pretty good.... I hope he's not a mute main character tho...

Have you tried MAG yet? It's probably the future of where mutliplayer games should be heading. Like I keep telling friends and people on here, MW2 and other FPS now have zero excuses as to why they can't have more players playing on the maps. If you look at MAG and then MW2... MW2 was definitely not worth the 60.00 price tag and I am ashamed now that I think about it of paying that much. Don't get me wrong the gameplay is very fun, the campaign was great too. Albeit shorter than I would have liked. But when I can justify buying MAG for 60.00 and not MW2; something is clearly wrong with FPSs. I am kind of wondering how much hand Activision had in the oversight of MW2 cause it was a let down even though I played the hell out of it. Did Activision restrict MW2 hardcore? This is the question I am dying to know.

But I just started MAG, 200+ hours playtime and I'm not looking elsewhere. I do play Bad Company 2 on occasion though. The maps in the game are huge for the most part just like MAG, however it lacks the amount of maximum players that I am really comfortable with. On PC they have large amounts of players in the Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142; and there's no excuse not to have it on 360/PS3. They are superior systems to what most people are probably using to play the PC games. I don't know. MAG revolutioned FPS. Let's see a game released that bring BC2 and MAG into one game. Then we'll talk.

he has nothing to do with anything other than writing the story... bioware does the same thing and I really like their stories... so i expect it to be good... if the main character is not mute, Crytek.

I dont think FPS are going down hill, since most of todays FPS are in 9/10 and doing very well (KZ2,R2, Halo, COD, BF:BC, Crisis, ect) but there are too many shooters and is possible that in the future they'll start to get dull since there aint much they cant inovate with in the FPS genre.

I think everybody gets sick of FPS's after a while. There's only so many ways you can run around and shoot people. Basically one way actually.

I hve MW2 and its pretty garbage imo. But i dont really have anything else to playon the PS3 cept MW2, KZ2, n SocomC. KZ2 is pretty ok online but theres not much vareity in the weapons and too much explosions makes the movements, aiming, head bobbing really annoying. I wish there was a good TPS to counter my FPS boredom. i think i might have to go back to 360 since tthey have gears and all my friends. I wish that MGS4 online was popular and good, then maybe i'd buy that.

Well you could try a RPS like Borderlands, for change. It's amazing.

I agree it's hard to find a FPS with a decent story though... I'm starting Bad Company 2 now. I hope the story's not as pointless as MW2.

As far as other FPS go, I'd say Bioshock or The Orange Box. But this is old news, so you probably already tried them.

Most of it is just dumbed down "run, point and shoot" these days. Especially with the recent overkill of WW2 games this past decade and corporations like Activision and devs like Infinity Ward. Sony's FPS games aren't too far behind to be honest either. They just seem to be "the same" as well.

This is why I've just given up on them all together. It just got boring, repetitive and realized I was just wasting my money in hopes it'll "get better". If I'm in the mood to play an FPS game to kill some time, I play BF1943 and that's enough for me.

Besides, I think I would take a TPS over a FPS any day to be honest. They just seem better over all.

Ya i have TOB on pc. I dont get it. PC devs seem like they can do it. I mean ill play CSS over MW2 anyday vuz that game has amazing gameplay, features and mapps. Most games that i find new and innovated are dead online. I thought Red Faction Gurerrilla or w/e was fun and something new. I still think Shadowrun could've been a massive hit if the devs didnt go bankrupt. IW just gathered all there money from COD4 and half assed it with MW2 imo

Sooo...what? FPSes were good 2 years ago, but now they're crap? I'm pretty sure that's just about the opposite of what I think :? Of course there are timeless classics, but the quality of games in general have been increasing with the amount of time in this generation.

Trust me, they are not. Sure, there may be an overabundance of them and some are not that great, but there are also amazing FPS's that are out there. The genre is here to stay and I would have to say it will stay forever.

FPS is built on the idea that you're looking at something to shoot at it, so essentially, that's all developers are limited to doing with their FPS games. DICE tried to take that in a new direction with Mirror's Edge, but it didn't work out so well because your view is limited. If developers can find a way to present the player with a wider spectrum of view, much the same way third person shooters do, then they can do new things with the genre, but until then, FPS isn't going to be changing very much.

Eventually people will get tired of paying $60 for a makeover.

I love FPS games don't get me wrong, we have just been getting so many lately that I've been getting bored with them. March was a great month though because we had FFXIII and GOW3 mixed in there to keep it somewhat balanced haha.

I think though that if FPS games are on the decline it's because they are so popular that developers are like "Hey everyone is buying up FPS games, let's start making them too!" and they rush a project because the genre is selling like hot cakes right now - due to how well MW2 and BC2 sold.

I object! haha. If anything FPS's will only go up and up. FPS saturate the videogame industry. So to say it is going down hill...is impossible. You're forgetting FPS's is one of the main genres that paved the way for the industry with the likes of Duke Nukem, Doom, Half-Life. It isn't going away.

I never really liked FPS... never saw the attraction of mindlessly running around shooting things. This includes back when games like Doom first came out. I've never been interested in FPS.

Other then Bioshock and Bioshock 2 all of my great FPS memories are stuck back in my old PC days.

3rd person shooters are doing fine but first person actions needs to change, there are to many of them completely lackluster and mediocre.

I agree with your last sentence. MW2 attracts so many people is because of the media it got and its a pretty decent/ easy shooter. It delivers with content (sort of) but lacks in... idk actually. Something about the game that makes it frustrating at times IMO. Maybe because the person doesnt do all the killing ( harriers, pavelows, AC130,ect) or the fact that they kind of went overboard on the perks and killstreaks? Not so much killstreaks. Those don't kill a game. Look at BC2 or idk lets say shadowrun. They have elements that change up the paces of games; like total destruction or magic spells and tech.

Yeah I see why people are tired of FPS its cause most of them are the same. But MAG is a breath of fresh air. You can argue MAG is basically the same to when you just capture positions and blow things up but having things on a larger scale can bring a lot of variety. just on a sabatoge map Both squads focused on captureing one position, with so much pressure on one spot both sides needed to accomodate for it. But while that was going I lead a small team to take over the neglected base and took it over with ease. That was just a 64-player match, with a 256-player match things get hectic and unpredictable.

Its true.

The last one that kept me interested was Call of Duty 4. After that I made many FPS purchases but none hooked me into the online like that game did. Unfortunate but what can you do.. I still hop onto CoD4 from time to time, that game will never get old.
