Ok so I have one of the newer model 80GB Playstation 3's without the card readers, BC, chrome, and the like. I need more HDD space because I am flat out on my 80GB console, I like the fact that the slimdraws less power, I like the new flat black rather than the glossy(scratches just bug the hell outta me), I also like that its smaller because I'll be moving to an apartment soon and am gonna need the extra space on the new entertainment center for all my crap lol. So I'm just wondering... Would it be worthwhile to sell mine for around $250 bucks and buy the new Slim? I know it'll be cheaper to buy a new HDD but the slim has many more features that make it an appealing console upgrade. I have read the reviews on Cnet and several other places saying it's pretty rock solid(then again it isn't an Xbox 360 right lol). Give me some input on my thoughts and give me your conclusions. Thanks ahead dudes. :D

What features make it more appealing....the fact that it uses less power?... If it was me i'd say heck no....i don't see any reason for a already owner of a PS3 to upgrade to a Slim. Unless your existing PS3 runs like crap.

As was previously mentioned, there's no new "feature" on the new PS3 slim. It's just smaller and more energy efficient. If you're running out of HD space just buy a new laptop HD and install it. Much cheaper. If you bought any DLC you'd have to copy it over to the Slim's HD anyway.

if you get a good price on it if you sell it then do it! dont end up being like me. i had a 60gb model and that thing crapped out on me for no reason. now i have a 600 dollar paper weight. should of sold it when i got the chance. you do know that the models with backwards compatibility are prone to fail right? pretty much everyone who got the YLOD (yellow light of death) had a model that was able to play PS2 games.

you could say it's like selling your perfectly good 5 dollar sandwich for like 2-3 dollars and buying a 2 dollar sandwich of the same kind just smaller and a little less mustard

I still have no idea why everyone is so eager to sell their fat PS3's just to get a slim while losing money in the process. Just a waste of money if you ask me.

you better hurry up and sell it. you can probably get it sold for $200-$225. i had lots of people message me after they saw my craigslist ad. too bad i was desperate and sold my 40 gig for $200. the next day people wanted to buy it for $225. stupid, i know. just go on craigslist right now and post before the Slim is officially released.

i have the Slim and it looks sexy. you should see the new buttons and lights. youre paying small difference for a smaller, sleeker, more energy efficient, non-glossy PS3.

''The Slim has many more features'' That is incorrect, you cant install any other OSs on the slim. Apart from that, they are both identical except the looks of course.

You can upgrade your hard drive for 40 quid to a 320gb drive.. If you spend 70 quid the you can upgrade to 500gb drive. I upgraded my 60gb PS3 a couple of years ago and I've not looked back. Who cars if its smaller and has less scratches it sits under the TV and you only really see the front if you install it horizontally.. ;-)

Ok let me rephrase that... The slims new design features are really appealing to me as a buyer. Is that better?

I will never trade my PS3 80GB for a slim. If you're running out of space put a 500gb hard drive in it.

You have the most reliable PS3 so far and you want to trade it ????

No way just get a bigger HD and you're set.
