My PS3 fell to the floor because my sister tripped on the USB chord.

there was a dent on the system and it started acting all funky after that .. weird freezing, and the sounds weren't in sync .. and it would get hotter than normal ..

I still have my reciept and my warranty so I called sony for the coffin, but didn't tell them about the dent (although they have to notice it when they looked at it.)

I told them all the issues, but ignored the bad fall part. They sent me the coffin. And I sent them the system. And I checked the status of my repair and it says,

"The unit you are inquiring about was shipped on 08/20/08" plus an email from UPS telling me that a 14 lbs package is one the way.

I was positive that Sony was going to contact me about the dent not being covered by Sony and to pay up $150 -- I guess not.

Did my unit pass the warranty ? Is this a new refurb I'm getting ? Also -- am I going to get a 60 gig back ?

If they determine that the damage was your fault they'll probably get your system back unrepaired with a "Dear John" letter about your warranty being void.

I think it did. When they sent you a UPS email it means your new or refurbished PS3 is on the way. or it could be your old broken one. But they would have sent you an email saying it is out of the warranty. I would think it passed the warranty test.

They may have just figured it was damaged during shipping.

Had to send my 60GB model due to the 2.40 firmware update several weeks ago and sent me back a ps3 with 75GB hard drive which I though was weird.

sent my 60 gig in under warranty, a while back they sent me the coffin and about two weeks later got a refurbished one. sonys fast which is a good thing you lucked out because they would have sent you a email saying that your unit was damaged and the warranty was void. CONSIDER YOURSELF A LUCKY MFER.

I had a buddy in the exact same situation as you. He knocked his PS3 off his entertainment center and it simply didn't start up...at all. He sent it in and had a new/refurbished PS3 in two weeks. I don't even think they really check. How could you not notice the giant crack on the side of it?

i have a question..my 2 year warrenty from bestbuy is good till dec of this year, now lets say my ps3 (its the 60GB model BTW) breaks down on me for some reason..if i return it to bestbuy what system would they give me? cuz they dont make the 60 gig no more so would they just give me a new 80gig?

..an if they do give me an 80gig imma be pissed! cuz i would basically be getting a DOWNGRADED system that cost wayy lesser then what i originally paid!
