i saw a few nice ones at best buy....but i was wondering would the video quality differ between a cheaper brand than ...lets say samsung or sony even if they both support up to 1080i ?

This is a great tv Sharp Aquos LC-32GP1UI'm looking to buy it but cannot find it in Canada, or a site that will ship to Canada.

I would go with sharp aquos on costco.com . They are much cheaper there than best buy plus if it breaks down you can always take it back to them in store :).

thnx i only have like 600 bucks to spend so.....

Don't expect much with only $600 to spend. You might as well buy a monitor instead of buying off brand HDTVs. Monitors also offer up and past 1080p. With $600 I doubt that you will find a nice HDTV that can also support 720p-1080i.

domonitors have just as good video quality that HDTVs give out?

At first I had a sammy (lnt3253h) but returned it because of image tearing and sound drop outs. (DO NOT BUY THE SAMMY LNT3253H AS ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM JUST CHECK SOME SITES). I ended up getting a sony KDL32S300 and am very happy with it - awsome picture, good speakers, no problems.

I don't see why not. HD just means a higher resolution and monitors always had higher resolutions.
