Maybe somebody here can re-assure me. I've had my new slim for around 3 weeks now after my 40GB got the YLOD and I'm slightly worried. The problem is that somebody in my house decided to connect their iPod to my PS3 to let it charge over night, when I specifically told them not to. The PS3 was on ALL night and when I came down in the morning it was turned off.

Now, in the options menu under "Energy Saving" I have it set to turn off after 1 hour period of inactivity, but its not set to turn off under special conditions. My question is, is charging an iPod considered a special condition? I'd just like to know whether my PS3 shut itself down after an hour or if it was on all night and overheated causing itself to shut down. I really don't want another messed up system and I was FURIOUS at the person that didn't listen to me in the first place.

Charging an Ipod is like charging a controller. Your PS3 will be fine.

Oh, and I dont think it's considered a special condition either.. And DEFENITELY wont overheat your system. Relax ps3's are tough.

I wouldn't worry about leaveing the PS3 on. I had my PS3 on 24/7 for over two years and it has never had a problem other than software issues of some games that would cause problems. The PS3 is built like a tank.

It doesn't really matter if you ask me, I had left my PS3 on for a week by accident when I went on a trip, it was perfectly fine. I don't think you should worry about anything, beside Sony implanted Remote Joy which allows a PSP to connect to it and play the media files, and I have a feeling Sony thought about this in advance and that some people would leave the PS3 on for weeks with Remote Joy Application on. I say forget about it and go play your PS3:)

Yeah, I thought so too until my original version got the YLOD twice for no reason. I'm probably just being a little paranoid anyway, its just that the thought of another failure gives me a massive headache. Thanks for the replies though.
