I already have 46 ps2 games including some great classics and awesome games (devil may cry 3, god of war 2, gt4, san andreas, ratchet and clank 3, resident evil 4, tom clancy's splinter cell series, call of duty 3 and more..)

so is it worth buying a ps3? (what I mean is if the ps3 so much better then the ps2 and it's worth buying for buying simular games to the games I already have (for example gta4, mgs 4, call of duty 4, residnece fall of man...)

thanks :)

if you're still enjoying all those games and haven't finished them, I don't see the point for you to get a PS3, unless you want it anyway. The PS2 is still putting out good games. If you're still satisfied with what you are playing, I'd say hold off. By the time you are ready to get a PS3, the games that are out now will be cheaper, hopefully, and there will be more games for you to choose from. :)

I think that you will find any console to have many games similar to games found on a previous system. Along with these there are new games as well like LittleBigPlanet. Is it really bad that the sequels to those games will be similar to them? If you enjoyed them on the PS2 chances are you will enjoy the next installment in the franchise on the PS3.

Once you get bored of your ps2, then maybe getting a PS3 is an alternative. Don't sell your games like at EB or Gamestop, because they rip you off majorly. But for now I'd stick with your PS2, seeing on how many games you got. Thats my opinion.

Yes since the PS2 days are numbered. Hold on to PS2 since if you get the 40 gig version there is no Backward compatiblitity at all. So on to PS3

I had my PS2 for years - I have already played more on the PS3 than I did combined with the PS2. Just me (obviously) but I thought the graphics sucked and just never got into my PS2 games. Exception a few fun sports games.

PS3 graphic on an HDTV is just miles better and to me that makes the difference

wel i have over 70 ps 2 so when i got the ps 3 i made sure to get the one that plays ps 2 games this way if you go back to a ps 2 you can so to me having the ablity to play ps 3, ps 2, and ps 1 games is all ways a plus.

even better if you have a hd tv then your ps 2 games will looks better upscaled on the ps 3.

plus you get to go on internet if chioce to.

wireless controler.

free stuff from the psn store.

ect.

if you have the money find a 60 gig some were or get the 80 gig so you get to play all three gens.

I had PS2 for the longest time, then finally bought a PS3, mainly for BluRay.....

My PS2 games look "ok" on it, but PS3 has so much more to offer, IMO....

What? Yes. Yes should buy a PS3 regardless of how many PS2 games you have. I bought a DVD player even though I had tons of VHS movies. I bought a CD player regardless of the amount of tapes I had. I upgrade computers all the time.

Get a PS3 if you can. It doesn't mean your PS2 will self-destruct. I was playing God of War just the other day on the PS2. Good times.

Why not get the 80 Gig PS3? Then you can play your PS2 games on that instead, and enjoy PS3 games too.

Yes because the PS3 is growing and has really good games and coming out with some other hit titles, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, MGS4 (just came out), and Final Fantasy. You should trade in your system toward the PS3 but keep the games that way you can play them on your PS3.

The only reason they are telling you to sell your PS2, is because you can play your PS2 games on the PS3 (60 & 80 gig models only). Why keep your PS2 if your PS3 can basically take it's place? Besides, the PS3 is quite large compared to even the original PS2 so you may not have room for both.

Well the biggest difference between PS2 and PS3 is the online component. Online MP is a big value added the PS3 compared to the PS2, and to me probably the most important. I know PS2 had online, but it wasnt half as good as the PSN.

If you got a PS3, you probably wouldnt regret it. But, if you think you can hold off, I would maybe wait for a price drop.

For the record... if you do get one... I recommend GTAIV or MGS4, obviously, lol.

I don't know. There aren't that many titles out there right now. I'd say wait until the next price drop. MGS4 is awesome and same ith GTA IV but those are the only two games I play. I don't know if those two games alone justify a purchase. Do you have an HDTV? If yes, the Blu ray player adds some worth.

Get The 80gb Ps3 bundled with Mgs4 so you can enjoy all those Ps2 games again and Play B3yond.

The Ps3 has an excellent library plus the best line up.

Since you have a large selection of PS2 games I would get the 80 model since it is backward compatible with PS2. I never owned or played PS2, but I bought the 80GB model because there are some games that I will want to get.

Get the PS3, if you get the 80GB you can still play all your games and so on. There aren't a huge amount of ps3 games out like there was on ps2, but no system has a bulk amount of games anymore. If you have that many ps2 games, then, the PS3 is the way to go. Ratchet and Clank is out, along with Uncharted, Grand Theft Auto, MGS 4. Resistance is still cool but somewhat dated now. You have future games like Disgaea 3, Socom, God of War 3, Valkyria Chronicles, Resistance 2, and Little Big Planet. A price drop probably won't happen until probably 09 at some point after Killzone 2, but I am just speculating. The userbase, while still somewhat low is a lot better than it was. If it was still struggling then I would say screw the PS3, but it is up to about 13 and a half million units maybe higher. The PS2 seems to be slowing down, the only other major game coming to that is Persona 4, but PS2 is just about a dead horse. Make the jump.

Hmm. I once thought about that. "Why pay for games that are just remakes". I was going to buy an xbox, but realized I had a kick ass PC. So I got Ps3. It is a console to my every need. Now you have some great games, but to experience the next story, or even see the next level in gameplay, I say go for a Ps3. But hold off on some the games. They are now tapping into the Ps3. And with Lazy devs, it's lookling like it's a while before they actually do something right. But with Devs like Naughty Dog, Insomiac, Konami, and Rockstar, they atleast show hope for the gaming generation now before it truely blossums.

Actually no, the PS3 is only much better in terms of functionality. You can not compare the PS3 to PS2 in terms of games. Also, I wouldn't say GTA IV is the pinnacle of gaming right now. I've only played it for around 10 hours and I'm already bored of it. The missions are very repetitive and half of the time I can't even understand what the hell they were saying, GTA IV seriously needs subtitles.

Do you have a friend that has a PS3? If so, go play theirs to see if you're ready make the jump. Take some of your PS2 games so that you can see how well they play on the PS3. If that's not an option, go rent one. If that's not an option, don't do anything. You can't make a decision like this based on what people are posting. It's all personal preference. Since you still love your PS2, and are not clearly sold on the PS3... wait. The PS3 is going to be around for a long time. Probably longer than any other console before it, that's the way Sony designed it... to last at least 10 yrs.

I used to have the original xbox, and would buy games for that last gen. 2 months before I bought my ps3, i bought a ps2 slim, granted I only had about 8 games then, I just wanted one for exclusives. I swear though not only have I been buying ps3 games but i've bought about 15 ps2 games since. So if you're having fun either way, thats what matters.. but it doesn't hurt to have the ability to play GTA IV online whenever you want ;)

If you want to check the next-gen games then yeah especially after releasing MGS4 and GTA IV so... yeah.
