yes because the PS3 slim is 2/3 slimmer and is 33% quieter and is less quieter also it has a 120GB hardrive which is unfortunatly irreplacable but hidden good under the bottom section of the PS3 slim. It's only 299.99$ and is the newest model for the ps3 why pay for a fat when you can get it slim.

Buy it. Great deal. 299 is a steal for everything you get. Game machine, Blu Ray player, free online play, reliable console, lots of great exclusives, access to PSN to download great games and demos or rent videos, It is has a web browser, upscales dvd's to high def, plays and stores music, and has trophy collecting for people who like achievements. Some of the games that are must have have for someone who has never owned a PS3 are Little Big Planet, Uncharted, MGS4, Killzone 2, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Resistance 1 and 2, Ratchet and Clank, MLB 09 the show, Demon's Souls , Valkyria Chronicles and Hot Shots Golf 5. But really that is just cracking the surface as the games on PSN are above and beyond great like Wipeout HD , Flower, or Pixeljunk Eden. And the best has yet to come because early 2010 looks very hot for the PS3.

If you already have a PS3 then don't buy it but you haven't got one yet then get it. It's smaller, quieter, lighter and consumes less power.

I bought an 80GB PS3 about 6 months ago and replaced the hard drive with a 500GB drive, so I'm happy enough with my piano black style PS3 and have no plans to replace it with a slim line PS3.

i don't think you should, there's no real bonus over the original (there isn't BC in it), its just smaller and doesn't look anywhere near as good. as soon as the price drop appears in your area (it might have already happened) buy the original, glossy, better looking PS3 before they sell out.
