Should I buy Battlefield Bad Company 2?

I'm very, very fond of modern shooters. But I really only like games where you gotta point and shoot. L1 to aim and R1 to shoot. I hate run and gun games like BioShock, Killzone 2.

I really liked Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2, Resistance 2 and Army of Two The 40th Day, which are all games that rely on the L1/R1 thing. So does anyone think I should buy this game?

You have to aim in BC2. There are times when you shoot from the hip but you can aim down the sights if you want. Its in no way like Killzone 2 because the controls arent as sluggish and heavy.

I would say yes.

IMHO, you should rent all games before buying. I always do. Not that I'm a paid employee of Gamespot (I'm not) but I also always read their reviews as well before getting a game. With that being said. Bad Company 2 is an awesome game. People who are used to playing COD-MW will have some adjusting to do as the controls are a little different. The biggest difference is that the gun sights don't snap to the closest enemy when looking down the gun sights. and the controls are a little more sluggish in my opinion.

However, I think that the game is awesomely done and the destructible environment is the best feature of the game. COD-MW would be much better if it had that feature in it

The single player is kinda meh hit and miss. The online multiplayer however is extremely good and refreshing nothing like COD modern warfare 2. I play online almost every day now.

edit: and yes it uses L1 and R1 to aim and shoot. You REALLY rely on your squad to not be screw ups to win matches so dont expect to get 30 kills and still win a match with 3 other people being snipers and not getting kills because they are camping.

Battlefield is a great game, but MW2 is still 10 times better in my opinion. I've been playing Battlefield since it came out and I'm level 17 now. I put in MW2 today just for kicks and I forgot how awesome and smooth the controls are. The graphics are spectacular. The guns are amazing. And the gameplay? Freaking action packed! I love this game!

But yeah, BFBC2 is okay. Just not as awesome as MW2. I don't regret buying it though.

i myself am a huge fan of mw2 and perfer it ten to one in most cases, but as for bc2 id say that id rate it the same with mw2 its definatly action packed and the fun factor is insane.

Yes. BFBC2 has the best FPS multiplayer mechanics to date. And while you can shoot from the hip, the L1/R1 arrangement is the basic scheme.
