Please help

Should I format my PS3 or just send it back and get a refund. I really have had enough now.

I have one very strange problem and I can't fix it.

STRANGE PROBLEM. This has only just started to happen (about a week ago) I brought a dvd, put it in, everything worked fine and then the sound would cut off for a while. It happens at set places on the dvd. The dvd works on my PS2 and my DVD player. So far now three DVD's have done it.

The very strange thing is that it happens in action scenes, when a lot is going on. I can't work it out.

I tried connecting the AV lead back in, and running it straight to my amplifier (DIDN'T WORK)
I tried not using my amp and going through the TV sound (DIDN'T WORK)
I tried ticking different boxs in the sound options for HDMI sound (DIDN'T WORK)

Problem number 2 is that it now only starts 50% of the time, when I put a disc in. It just goes black and locks-up.

QUESTION. Is there a way to save my ps2 memory card on my Ps3 if I format the drive.I really don't wanna lose it all.

QUESTION. Should I admit defeat and get my money back? Cause I can't think what else to do....

Please help oh mighty ones.

I am running my PS3 to my TV with a HDMI cable.

I would send it back and get a new one because it is still under waranty.

You can back up all your data by connecting an external drive(thumb drive or usb harddrive) and running the Backup Utility located in System Settings.

Thanks, will give backing it up a go and take it back to HMV. They are going to hate me, hehe.

Before taking it back you should call Sony because there may be something that's not set correctly or there may even be a update in the next firmware update. The reason I say this is because it happens only in certain places (I had a strange problem with sound and found that the problem was a connection). The cable was firmly in the connecter but it was basicly a very slightly lose connection. Just something to check very throughly first.

I had awful crackling sound on action movies, then I set the sound to 1 instead of 3 (triangle, then volume) now it goes well

Your second problem seems too much for me, no other solution than ringing Sony and/or making the warranty work with the shop
