A friend of mine had the same problem, too!!!! I think there was a virus in the update. Try to restore default settings (format) but if nothing happens i am afraid you should send it! [have you got the guarantee???]

What is the Gurantee? if you mean warranty then no the warranty on mine has ended. I do think its some Bull that sony ruins my PS3 in the update and then wants to charge me for it.

If you're going to send it it, then you might as well try to format it first, since that's one of the things Sony will do anyways.

I heard there were some issues w/ firmware 2.7 if you use a a ps2 adapter for the controller. If this is the case then use your regular DS3 and see if that does the trick. If not then you might have to cough up 150.

Before you format or send it in, try this instead. I currently have the same problem. Reads blurays, I can play demos, all that stuff, just cannot read PS3 games. from start up, begin playing one of your demos. Once you are in the game, press the PS button to return to the XMB. For some unknown reason, my PS3 only reads the disc once I've hopped into a different game. Peculiar, but it works. I've just gotten into the habit of starting up the KZ2 demo before I actually start playing the real KZ 2 :) Hope this helps

this seems like a simple brick-up which could be alleviated by reformatting. (if you've made backups, this should be a no-brainer; if you didn't, call sony and hear what they have to say on this matter first). good luck.

your right man it was just a simple brick up, I reformated it and it is good as new :D.

What makes me mad is that Sony didn't suggest this to me whatsoever. They told me I needed to send it in for repairs.
