Should I get 19 inch or 32 inch 720p or save for a 40 inch 1080p?

When it comes to games I've seen some remarkable visuals with 720p. Most games are set to this level. i have the money for either but Was wondering if its worth it. I am leaning towards getting Samsung's LN-T 3253H 32inch model with 720p Which I could pick up this week and. Cnet gave it a 7.9 However if I wait about a couple of months I could probably swing a Samsung 40 inch model with true HD 1080p. I've heard that you really can't tell the difference and figure that in about 3 years when HD is the standard I could then get that 1080p at a smaller price. Then there's the 19 inch models I see stores like Gamestop use to display the games. those are truly affordable. However I am going to get movies and watch HD cable tv on this so are they a bargain or will i regret it. So I know that some of you guys and gals have HDTV. I'm looking for reviews as far and performance, compatibility with the PS3, Look with Blu Ray and Sound. I'm looking for your experience with HDTV as well as normal tv watching. Any problems any models you would suggest I steer clear of? Thanks in advance and I really appreciate the input. :D

I'm looking in the same price range as you.

I read a user review that said the sound drops a lot though...

Might want to look into that. I've been looking at the Toshiba Regza 32"

For me I would wait and get the 1080p. Although you can get a $600 720p TV for cheap right now and then get a way better 1080p TV 3 years from now for $1000. If you do that then when you do get a house you would have a 32 inch for the master bedroom and then then a bigger 1080p TV for the living room.

In 3 years I was thinking that 1080p would be about $600 or less. and will have ten times the features. by the way they aren't going to increase the resolution are they? like 1600p or something. I mean we stand at 480i for decades. But I heard a fan of another system say that 1080p would be obsolete in a year. Lie?

Yeah I read that too. but I heard some of the same Amazon buyers got a thumb drive from samsung that downloaded the new firmware and the problem is solved. Besides I'm buying mine from Best buys with a extended purchase plan. Well worth the money for such a huge purchase don't you agree. :)

I looked at the Toshiba but it wasn't as bright as the Samsung or Sony models.

Also Newone can you really tell the difference? 1080p to 720p Gamepro recently said you really can't unless you freeze frame the picture. Or stand extra close.

I guess it depends on where you saw the brightness. If it was at a Best Buy Store, it could have been lighting or the display settings. Cnet's buyer's guide suggests you try to... can't think of the word... standardize? the TVs so you don't spend extra money based off of a color setting that happened to be set on one but not the other at the time. Don't get me wrong, the one you want could be better, just a tip.

i say wait for the 1080p, some people say u cant see the diff. but in my opinion u see more details in 1080p even if the set is small, also dont mind the in store models because i bought a 1080p sharp aquos in circuit city and next to all the tv's it looked like crap but i was able to get someone to let me change the a/v mode and when i put it on dynamic it looked really good

I bought a 300$ samsung synchmaster 225 bw 22 inches widescreen. 5 miliseconds refresh rate. I hate the slow refresh rate of the bigger tvs right now and they are too much expensive. The downside is that the movies (dvd format) are stuck in 480p, but the blue rays are 780p. The color is great and there is not much ghost effect. I am extremely satisfied at that price.:D

Yeah, trust me there is a big difference. Not to mention games like Lair and ninja gaiden sigma will use 1080p so it is becoming standard in ps3 games and it's really worth it. You buy the 1080p you will be set, no need to really buy anything in the future unless you want a bigger screen.

Dont get the 19 inch I have a 27 and if you sit too far away, it kind of sucks. I used a 19 inch monitior for my 360 but obvioulsy I was sitting right in front of it so it wasnt bad. I spent 600 on a 27 inch SAmsung Slimfit but I wish I would have waited for another 600 to get maybe a 35 or 40 it's just better.

unless the tv is 40 inches plus, you can't notice the difference unless you walk up to six inches from the screen and have one side by side. I'd get he 720p, espeially since it looks like that will be the res most ofen used for games this gen.

Buy the 32 inch Sharp Aquos 1080p TV for $1000. That's what I did.NismoZZzz

That's what I'm thinking of. I know people say that you can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on that small ofa screen, but the contrast on that is 2000:1 and 10000:1 dynamic.

On the 32" Regza (Toshiba) the ratio is just 800:1

I think I'll try and compare the two pictures at Best Buy or somewhere if I can.

EDIT: on eBay, there's a 37" Aquos for 1175 shipped.

Do NOT listen to anything that someone tells you about 720p and 1080p being the same, or similar.

1080p all the way. You will see more and it will be in higher quality than 720p. 1080p covers a larger area, so, you get more of the picture. 720p does not cover as much of the area as 1080p does. If you're close to getting that 40" 1080p HDTV, GO WITH THE 1080p HDTV!

You 720p fools are nuts!

decision made and paid for. Went with the 40 inch Samsung 1080p. I am so glad I did. The colors and the graphics look so much better. I'm tempted to restart all of my PS3 games to enjoy them again in beautiful 1080p. Plus I now have a reseason to get a Blu-Ray movie. I'm about to head to the store and get one. :) Thanks to everybody for your advice I really appreciate it.

I just got the Samsung 1080P LCD from Best Buy last week. I have been eyeing it for nearly 3 months and I noticed it on sale for $500.00 bucks off (making it $1885). This Flatscreen is just phenemonal! I simply cant say enough about it. I believe Circuit City has it on sale this week. I had most of the money but they offered 18 months interest free so my mind was made up. I cant say enough about it. Cnet had a good score but it you want ot know just check out CC's web site and check the reviews.
