60gb. Can play all your PS1 and PS2 games and the PS3 is able to upconvert them. Plus, your PS2 is going to break in a matter of time and then what? You'll have to buy another PS2. You'll also be able to play all your games on 1 system with 1 wireless controller and not have to worry about any memory cards.

well i have like 20 ps2 games and if i sell my ps2 and get a 40gb, then those games will be sitting there and what if sometime later i wanna play a ps2 game i have like bully or jak 2? also if i get a 40gb then my TV area will be crammed with wii controllers, wii games, ps2 games, ps2 controllers, ps2, ps3, ps3 games, and ps3 controllers. if i get the 60gb and sell my ps2 then i wont have a sea of tangled wires everywhere on my carpet from my ps2 controllers. and yes i can afford the 60 gb

I reccomend you selling the ps2 and get a 60gb. Why? If you ever decide, if not already, to get a hdtv- ps2 games look a good bit better while played on the ps3 than the ps2. Even without a hdtv, the smoothing option deffinatly helps games like ff12 look bearable. So far, the 40gb is never going to have the option to play ps2 games. Besides, if you ever want to sell stuff on ebay later on, you'll get a a good bit more money for the 60gig since its a oop item now. The 40gig is going to cause problems with rock band since its only got 2 usb ports. Plus, not sure if its true or not, but the 40gig doesn't have wifi from what I've heard. If thats true, you can't get wireless internet on your ps3. The usb dongles for a laptop or such don't work.

I say get the 40 GB PS3, because you can always buy another harddrive if you need it (they use laptop hard drives) Just keep your PS2 in a safe place like your closet and keep it there until you want to play it, because it will eventually become classic, and I find the only way to play classic games are on the system they were made for.

Well 60 gig is the best model out there right now in terms of backwards compatibility and features. You're probably not going to get more than $100 total for the ps2 and the controllers, in which case it might just be better to get the 40 gb if you have a lot of unfinished ps2 games, as it still comes out to cheaper. Really, the only things that should matter with your particular decision is do you want the card readers, 20gb more space, and the 2 extra usb ports, because if you do, then you should get a 60 gig. Otherwise, if you don't care for those, then save yourself some money and just get the 40 gig, even if you don't have ps2 games to finish.

Unless you're just really tight on money right now, it just makes more sense to get the 60 gig while you can. There's no point in having two consoles around when you can have one that plays both games. You may not play PS2 games much anymore, but it sure will feel good when you are in a nostalgic mode and don't have to pull out the old PS2. The 40 gb should only be gotten if you don't care about playing PS2 games anymore/ever, or if you can't afford the extra 100 for the 60 gig. If none of those apply, avoid the 40 like the plague.

Very simple answer:

1. If you want to save money - buy 40GB.

2. If you don't, buy a 60GB.

Now, a fact. Selling PS2 console will grant you maybe 90$ (if you're lucky) and will not pay 500$ for 60 GB version by itself.

If you have money saved already for 40GB version then save a bit more and buy 60 GB, ONLY if you still wish to play PS1/PS2 games.

Otherwise save your money and get 40 GB which will give you full capabilities for great price.

the upconverting isnt exactly all that special, it does about of good of a job as my lcd would. If you are serious about upconverting SD material to HD then check out DVDO, although it can gert rather costly.

That is not a bad idea at all and I am considering that. But by next year, there probabably won't be any 60gb systems left.

Depends on your view as money is concerned. If you are not hung up about cash and it is not going to bother you finacially. Buy the 60GB and sell the PS2. But if money is tight then get the 40gb and keep the PS2 to play your old games. My 2 cents

Sounds like you should get the 60gb.... less clutter in the entertainment center. I'm glad I picked one up while I still could. Theyre already sold out on Gamestop.com

Just get the 40gb. I doubt you'll want to play PS2 games much once you start playing PS3. And if you do then you'll have your PS2.

well. I would get the 60gig, its cheaper now, has larger hard drive (which is good, for games, demoes and media) and has more usb ports. so go for the 40gig. But if you want a cheaper one and want to keep the ps2 then the 40gig is fine and games will still play the same. plus then you could put the ps2 in a diffferent room 9though you could do that anyway).

If you have a lot of PS2 games or just have a desire to play PS2 after getting a PS3, then the 60 gb would be a better choice. You should go with the 40 gb and sell your PS2 if you really don't have a desire to play your PS2 anymore. You could probably use the little bit of money towards accessories for the PS3. Or towards that other toy you have, that everyone knows as a Wii.

personally i would go with the 60 gig for bigger hard drive and BC plus i find the memory card reader useful and four usb ports. i know you can upgrade your hard drive, but hey your paying for the hard drive which is why i think 40 is too small for that price but thats my opinion.

60 gigs has allowed me to put alot of info but i think you'll fill 40 gigs quickly, i filled my 60 gigs pretty fast with videos and demos not to mention space reserved for games.
