Should I get Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

I've been toying with the idea for a while now whether or not to get Crisis Core: FF VII. I'm not a huge FF fan, but I thought FF8 was great, FF9 was brilliant and that FF VII is one of the greatest games of all time. Honestly, unless you know me as a friend you'll not know just how much I love FF VII, but I'm more of a traditional FF fan, I'm not a fan of the spin-off games (ie. Tactics) and I don't want to waste money on Crisis Core to not like it. Can anyone who has played it tell me whether I should get it, bearing in mind how much I love Final Fantasy VII.

Definately buy it as you can get it for pretty cheap now.

Good - CGI scenes are amazing, Great Story

Bad - In-game scences are decent but not the best, Combat gets repetitive

Great game. Better than any other SE spin offs and an excellent game in its own rights. If you loved FF 7, then you're gonna love Crisis Core.

I loved this game and think you should buy it. Real fans of ff VII do and will love this game despite the few disappointments the game has. The best part of the game is definitely the storyline.

Hows it cannon? If memory serves, Zack had a very small part in FF7.Almost to the point where you don't even care about him.

When you mean cannon, do you mean differences between Last Order and CRISIS Core's ending? If you mean this, I wouldn't consider CC to be cannon. Last Order is an anime, so they can slightly alter stuff.

If you're not a hardcore FF7 buff (you don't remember EVERY single detail to possibly nitpick the plot inconsistancies with Crisis Core), then pick it up. It's an actual good quality spin off of FF7 if you don't pay attention to every non-canon detail.

Most characters are very likable or at the very least interesting, the plot is decent, the ending is great. It's... really nothing to cry over though unless you're the type to really get attached to characters.

Playing in short stretches is recommended, and for the love of God do not try to complete every single mission unless you're a completionist. It will drive you crazy from boredom.

*sigh* yes the gane was good but when they added those to new charaters it kinda missed up the story i mean genisse and angel had fan clubs in the game but no one remebers them in ff7? rin_risque19

Not exactly because Dirge of Cerberus has Genesis in it. So no messing up story. No one remembers Angeal and Genesis in FF 7 even though they had fan clubs. Good point, but there isn't much emphasis about Zack either. What they had in FF 7 was very brief. I remember playing FF 7 and not even caring about Zack. That was until I played Crisis Core.

I got it for Christmas, but the dialog is so damn, damn, damn bad that I cannot get myself to start playing it again.

I am maybe 2 hours in? But the writing and character dialog is painfully corny and lame. I loved FFVII but can't stand this game. It's not even gameplay that is ruining it for me (though the attack/menu system is a rather poor design decision imo) but the horrible dialog. A character commits a heinous act and Zack starts whining about friendship and honor... Christ it's painful...

Im trying to think how many of these threads come up in a month with some asking "should i get crisis core????"
