Dead Space has better single player, but it doesn't have any online at all while Resistance 2 have fantastic online. So it's up to you what you're looking for in a game, singleplayer or multiplayer.
Im gonna buck the trend and say R2. Deadspace was good, but once I finished it that was it. I havent played it since and I never will. I have completed R2 twice so far and clocked in soooo many hours online. Its great fun.

I agree however I would say rent dead space then get resistance 2 they both are great games.
