I played through and really enjoyed Fallout 3 so I was thinking of getting either Oblivion or New Vegas.. I understand they are both based on the same engine as Fallout 3. Which would you get and why?

i would go with Oblivion ( and i actually did ) because Fallout NV is very glitchy and if you wait you may end up with the GOTY edition of the game ( like me with Borderlands )

try oblivion for something new while new vegas is patched and such which be a long time. I only have oblivion havent beaten it yet got 50 hours in. Rented fallout 3 and finshed it along with most side stuff in like half that time.

Oblivion is still the best in the Bethesda lineup. New Vegas is fun, but Oblivion still tops it, but it really comes to personal preference. If you like sword and shield combat in countrysides and caves, go oblivion. If you like guns and deserted wastelands, go New Vegas.

New Vegas is very buggy atm and even if it wasn't id still recommend Oblivion.

Oblivion will give you more bang for you're buck, buy the Goty edition and be amazed. It's not the best game, but it sure is a fun game to waste time in.

Oblivion.. This game could last a whole game gen honestly.. and it has more things to do than Fallout does honestly... Why do you think its taking them so long to make Elder Scrolls V ? It's because they really take they're time when they are making a game like that... I had an Xbox and I bought TES III Morrowind and it lasted me a good 2 years and from what I recall I never finished it... Well, it wasn't worth finishing it anyway lol I still have Oblivion and my character is level 32 and I am still at the beginning of the main plot :P

I agree. I originally played Oblivion on 360, and I still haven't forgotten how awesome an adventure it was. Spent more hours on it than on Fallout 3, and I really, really liked that game. There is really only one problem with the PS3 version (which I bought for some reason): the frame-rates aren't phenomenal. It's generally slower than most other games. --Although that could just be me and my slim.

Yeah, and look at the map comparison

Oblivion map

Fallout 3 map

Oblivion on 360 or PS3, The game owns... The game came out way back in 06-07 and it IMO it has better graphics than both FO3 and FONV

Oblivion is a lot cheaper than New Vegas. I'd also go that route and then buy Vegas later on when the GOTY edition drops. Hopefully they'll have solved the bugs by then.
