You should get one. I have all next gen systems, and PS3 is my favorite.
And no, MGS4 won't appear in the 360 ever, it barely fit in a 60gb big Blu ray disk, if it appeared on the 360, it would have like 12 disks
I recently have become very interested in the Blue-Ray format, and I was wondering if Blue-Ray movies look good over a 720p television. Also, I own a 360 and a Wii and I was wondering would a PS3 be worth it? I want to get one, but I really do not see how it would be even logicall for me to get one. I mean MGS IV will probably go to 360 in the fall or winter, and I don't see anything unique that the PS3 offers(besides blue-ray). Please help me out. Any information would be helpful. Thank you..ECD-Hollis
Sorry, we don't help your kind (trolls) here.

Yea, exactly!
Why would anyone want their console to last ten years? I'd rather have to send it to service every 3 months and talk to technical support in Pakistan when it breaks. :)
God,I love my PS3!! :D
It's soo amazing.

just buy a bluray player instead of a PS3 if the games don't interest you. and also MGS4 is exclusive so no its not going over to your 360.
i'll quote since everyone seems to be ignoring this fact. apparently people can't think on their own anymore. From the sticky PS3 Forum Threads - Read This Thread BEFORE Posting :

My kind? Why do people keep implying that I am trolling? I honestly am thinking about purchasing a PS3, but I honestly don't know if it would be logicall seeing as how I own the other 2 systems. I'm just asking for some help here.........seriously........
The ps3 will have sum awesome games coming for it. It's brilliant m8. I think you should get one even if ya have got a 360.
I mean, yeah they are similar, but overall the ps3 is more powerful, bigger and...BETTER!!!
Still, it's your decision. ;)

Thank you for your input, I appreciate it. That is very helpful advice. Are there any exclusives you could point out for me? I like all types of games, with the exception of turn-based RPGS.
Heres a few Ps3 exclusives.

Jak
Killzone 2
Metal Gear Solid 4
Motorstorm
Rachet and Clank

Could someone please describe the PS3 online play, I can't really seem to find any really good descriptions of it on the internet. I know xbox live is great, how does the PS3's stand up to it? Please someone give me an honest opinion.
I do like the fact that it is free.
Never...
High def movies?
Reliabilty?
Free Online Play?
FFXIII?
Killsone 2?
Afrika?
Uncharted?
GranTurismo?
MGS4?
Haze?
LittleBigPlanet?
Ratchet and Clank?
Hot Shots Golf?
7 Controllers on a single console?
MLB The Show?

Why is everyone so sarcastic? Why can't I just get some strait up help with making a purchase of this magnitude?ECD-Hollisbecause the amount of information available on this subject is vast. And as pointed out above, the sticky at the top asks for these topics not to be made unless you will get banned.

i havent heard anything of that game since it was announced in E3 lolAight, I'll edit mine for-seriouslyness
Heck Yes:
On the technical side, PS3 is powerful. IMO, it has the best games and developers are still learning how to use the ps3 to its full potential. It has a Blu-Ray player for high def movies and larger games. It is far more reliable than the Xbox360. My personal favorite: it has free online play. I can't think of a game that uses this, but it has the ability to use 7 controllers on the same console.
It already has some amazing exclusives: Uncharted, Warhawk, Resistance:Fall of Man, Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds, MLB The Show, MotorStorm, Warhawk
I'm sure I missed some...
The exclusives look AMAZING for this year: FFXIII, Killsone 2, Afrika, Gran Turismo, MGS4, Haze, LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet and Clank:Tools of Destruction, Playstation Home, MotorStorm 2, God of War 3, Kingdom Hearts 3? ( i suppose ), Resistance: Rise of Man

I just wanted to get some opinions from people who actually own a PS3. Isn't that the point in a forum?ECD-Hollis
Your intentions may or may not be just. Unfortunately, quite often when threads like this are created, it tends to turn into an ugly system wars thread with rampant 'fanboys' about and more often than not flaming/trolling all around. Which is why it is mentioned in the sticky to not make threads like this.
One thing people may be calling you a troll for is your mention of 'MGS IV will probably go to 360 in the fall or winter'; that is a big system wars topic that's been going on for awhile now. There is no evidence to support the idea of MGS4 being released at all on the xbox. Yet the rumors keep coming up, and I've yet to see a thread regarding it that didn't turn ugly.

Thank you..ECD-HollisBlu Ray in 720p look okay but if your TV also does 1080i use that. Alot of HDTV overscan your picture. The best way to enjoy the ps3/360 and blu ray is getting 1080p LCD with 1:1 Pixel Mapping, that way you get full picture without the overscan. If only consoles would have scaling feature where you can change from overscan 0% to 15% underscan to adjust to your HDTV.
I think it depends on exactly what you'd want it for. If you're really bothered about graphics, blu-ray, bigger disk data and cool new stuff like LittleBigPlanet and Home, then you should really consider it. But, if you're fine with what you've already got and the above isn't too important to you, then you should probably save your money.
Make the right decision for yourself m8. >D

What the hell? MGS4 has been said that it is a PS3 exclusive how many times? Besides, it's extremely late in development for the 360. The game is nearly done, and will definetely not be appearing on the 360. I mean...it barely fits on a dual layered BD disc, so what makes you think it can fit on a DVD? Your logic has too many holes in it. There are tons of great games on the PS3, everything from Uncharted to Call of Duty 4. Tons of great games in the future like White Knight Story, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, MGS4, FF XIII and tons more. I clearly think you're a troll tbh.
I just wanted to get some opinions from people who actually own a PS3. Isn't that the point in a forum?ECD-Hollis
yes no one is trying to be a dick here..(i suppose some are) but only because this is kind of a blaintant question, and forum that people have seen far to often, but yeah if you want a next gen experience that is truly reliable get the PS3
I like that most people don't take into account how big a failure rate the 360 has. My 360 is broken and I'm not paying MS to fix something that is their fault. Good for them that they cover RROD but that is only a small portion of the problems with their horribly faulty hardware. When it comes down to it, you pay for the system, then pay for it to be repaired when it breaks (no telling how many times that will be). I know mine got RROD, got it fixed, then a couple months later I got "no video output" and MS asks 100 bucks to repair that. Big F U to their customers.
All you need to do is head over the the official xbox 360 forums and go to the support section and the audio/video section and see all the customers getting screwed over. Particularly there is a 21 page thread, and still growing rapidly, in the audio/video section of people with the exact same issue that I have. MS still hasn't acknowledged the problem. Majority of those guys paid to get it fixed. Why would you pay a company to fix something that they broke?
I don't know...but I gave up on that piece of crap and sticking with PS3 for better or worse. Atleast I've never had a single hardware problem with any of the PS systems. (oh and I have a luvly PC)
if you have $ for one and want a blue ray it's currently the best player going. No brainer. Supports blue ray version 2.0 with the latest firmware update. most blue ray players on the market are currently only version 1.2. Sony has a 2.0 model coming out soon, but i think it will run at $500. Games not currently as solid on 360, but that should change. Developers still getting used to the programming. 360 had the same problems early on as well. Yes, 720P, 1080i look amazing. Upscaled DVDs also look sick
what you should do is trade in both those other systems to buy a ps3 because once you start playing you wont go back i have a wii and i have not played it as much i even buy the new games for it but rarely play and 360 sucks so yeah thats my inputPOPEYE1716
yeah brawl get's old quick , it just melee with adds on. they focus on adding to much crap like trophies and stickers then characters and their movesets. and the online lags alot and the computer players are horrible if not worst in this game. brawl fails imo and hope Mario Kart Wii comes out great and it online unlike that overhyped brawl.
