they dont even make fat ones anymore, so get slim, but i f i were you, id get a used fat and replace the faceplate and battery. it costs more, but its good if you want a custom faceplate.
it depends what you want. if you want a smaller psp that performs alot better than get the psp slim. if you want homebrew than go with the old one. you may have to buy the old one off ebay tho. right now i own both psps (slim and phat) and personaly i like the slim one better.
yeah i'm just not sure about the plastic...but i guess i can buy a psp play-thru case later on... My best buy still sells the psp-1001's. so does my walmart..they only have that daxter bundle for the 2000 tho.I just want the core...but i guess i wouldnt mind the daxter game i could just trade it in after.
I don't think you could trade it in since it's in a little cardboard sleeve only...maybe gamestop would give you 5 bucks in a credit for it i don't know. The phat is still selling well on amazon, #2 right below the Daxter Silver pack.
get the phat one its more durable and complex. but in terms of features u should get the slim one, but maybejust maybe they could also make a tv-out for the old psp...:shock:
Homebrew is possible on the psp slim. As far as I know the slim can be hacked using the Pandora's battery. After that you're good to go with homebrew as soon as the developers make it compatible with kernal 3.xx
maybe i can go work at bestbuy keep a phat on layaway jsut for me till Christmas and if there is a price drop i will get it. Just incase there is a video out that will come for it too. :)
from my four day experience with the slim, im wishing i had bought the phat one, i dropped my slim one on the floor (and im talkin just a 2 foot drop) and now the screen is blank, everything seems to work from the sound, but i cant see anything. so if i were you id just buy a phat one.
I have both and the slim is lighter, brighter, louder, sleaker, and less flimsy feeling. The slim is a better option but if you are going budget then you might have no choice since the slim is new.

I read on a forum that the slim is not as versatile when it comes to custom Firmware and i quote "all that other fun stuff" and someone was saying that there are some legal illegal issues(?) with slim???I know this topic is discussed to the death but i am really confused, i really want a psp and i dont know which one to get...there are stores in my city where i can get either one and a friend of mine strongly recomends phat. but anotehr says that new games and firmwares, updates etc will be difficult for the phat to play. help!!!! plus money aint an issue since there is a neglegible difference in the two where i live, like only 20$ i would prefer homebrew enable but there is a debate going on whether it seems to work on slim or not?
Well the main differences between the Slim and Phat are that the Slim has bigger RAM, T.V. video output, smaller and lighter, and some of the buttons are switched around. Personally, If you can find a Phat in good condition, I would go ahead and get that, because the two are essentially the same, but I would not advise buying off Ebay, get it from that Bestbuy you were talking about.
And for you other guys, were not allowed to talk about CFW here.
i have a phat and i thought about getting a slim but i played my friends slim and it sucks the manual disc ejector is retarded because u gotta dig around in there and the "paint" was chipping off so id get the slim and a new faceplate cuz im gettin a new faceplate trust me phat rules and buy GTA: Liberty City Stories its random but a friggin fun game
Actually get the Phat. I used to have an original PSP (Phat) Now I have the Slimline. The Phat is way more sturdy, The slimline "feels" Flimsy and cheap. I prefer the Phat out of the two.
How does skype work i dont think i can use it where i live... will the lesser ram be an bigger issue later on with new games like ff13 and dissidia comming in? i heard the psp slim since is latest is easier to upgrade and will play future games more effciently and phat wont be able to play em due to its outdated harware and software.

I got my slim psp on july 14th and my phat one exactly a year b4 that. (my b day)
The Phat screen broke in about....3 months. The slim screen broke in two weeks. and i mean the screen screen. with the pixels and all. Phat >>>> Slim in durability. They both dropped a few times. Slim broke when i slid it across the floor though. that's what shocked me. It went in a straight line. didnt shake or wabble or nuthing.
Phat PSP also has infared so it can double as a TV remote. (really fun)

I got a new psp in china after losing my slim psp. You are absolutely right. My new psp is bronze, slim, and hacked so I can get the games I wanted. I personally don't know how to do it but the guy did it for me for free so i got 4 games for free and a bronze psp.
