Should i keep my PSN account although it's been hacked?

I had a strange experience the other day.

I was playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, when i suddenly came across one of these hacked lobbys.

I know this because there was a bright red menu on the screen while i was playing, it said something like "Bushidan Devil's Lobby".

Every player had a red square around them so that you could see them through walls and bushes and such.

Also, everybody had the abillity to run extremely fast.

I got kicked out of the match within few minutes, and simply kept searching for other matches as if nothing had happened.

But today i discovered that i lost half of my attachments on several weapons in the game, also my game has started freezing very often.

I now have to reset my PS3 several times per hour!

Thankfully, i deleted my credit card information a few weeks ago, but i may buy games from the PS Store in the future, would that be dangerous?

Should i keep this account, or should i make a new one?

It is a no Brainer. Get a new PSN account. report to sony that your original account has been hacked. Make sure your credit card info is indeed safe.

A game's hack lobby would have no effect. You're right.

COD hacking is based off of the save file of the actual game. Not PSN itself..

Not unless he gave away his info. I highly doubt a hacked game lobby would secretly load something on the PS3 hard drive. Hell, I don't think it'll be easy to pull that off on PC, nevermind a console. Especially serverside, to be highjacked. P2P or not (via console). To load something and just "take over"..

If that were the case, it would already be happening via PSN chain mail.

TC you should be fine with everything as long as you don't give out any personal information. If you want to delete your account it's up to you.

Sir/Miss, think about it, what would i gain by lying about this?

Anyhow, thanks for the tips everyone, if what you say about hacked lobbys is true, (that they only affect your MW2 savefile (which is not on your PS3))

then i might just keep my account after all.

Though it's strange my screen keep freezing...

It could perhaps be the result of something else.

actually, what people call "PSN hack" is just stupid people who exchange their account information for game sharing, so if they lose things that's just them giving away their precious info

in your case, at worst your save info has been partially corrupted as the "hacked lobby" may have added things to your save (does the game use auto save?) so sadly you'll have to erase the save and start over

If your game is freezing then it can't be your PSN account that is the problem. It's either to do with the game disc or your PS3 is on it's way out. I doubt even such a hack exists that could possibly completely mess you up like that.
