I heard there were some patches updated for the game. I played some time ago and it was unplayable due to the horrible freezes every now and then.

I loved FO3 and wanna give this game a second shot , or should I just trade it in ?

From what I've heard the game is now playable, much of the bugs have been fixed. I'd give it another try if it is something you are truly interested in playing. But if you aren't really into it then trade it in. Always keep 2 or 3 saves and keep the autosave feature active just in case you do experience problems so you can load the earlier save. It's just like playing an Elder Scrolls game. You need to keep around 2 or 3 saves because no matter how patched the game is it will always have those bugs due to the size. I'd suggest getting it for PC if you have the cash and the rig to play it as you can download official and unofficial patches to get (hopefully) the smoothest play experience as you can.

It's very playable after the recent mega-patch. I think it only froze up on me about 3 times in 100+ hours. There are still some bugs, and they'll make you mad, but I really can't complain all that much.

New Vegas has been cleaned up a lot since its release, but I still think it's an inferior game to Fallout 3. If glitches is the only thing that worries you though, then pick it up.

Even with the patches the game still suffers from quite a few problems.

I got it last week and the first thing I did was download the patch. Right now I´m having a blast with it.

Are you really going to pretend that you don't know what the TC is talking about?

Same here. I bought it upon release. When I finally got to New Vegas for the first time the game froze and would not load after I tried to reboot. Lost my entire game. Decided just to sell it. I may pick it up again at some point.

It might be a good idea to give New Vegas another chance, especially with the new patches.

I recently tried to give New Vegas a second chance after I had a bunch of major issues with it when I bought it on it's launch. I don't really know whether I just had a lot of bad luck with the game or something, but on buying it back and attempting to play through the game, I actually had more issues the second time around. Game breaking bugs too where I had to reset my console on a regular basis.

By all means give the game a go again if you want to try it, from what I actually managed to play of it the game was good, not quite at the same level as Fallout 3 but a lot of fun for sure. Just don't be surprised if you do run into a bunch of bugs still, because although the game's been patched a heck of a lot since release and some people do get by in the game with no issues whatsoever, a lot of people like myself still find the game barely playable.
