I know most games are 720P and upscaled to 1080P, question is will forcing my PS3 video settings to 720P make games look better even thou my TV is 1080P or should i leave it at 1080P, reason im asking this is games look kinda blury and dont feel smooth as should and wondering if thats gonna fix the problem.

It could be another setting, I use 1080p with my PS3 and it defaults to any other resolution when required, then back to 1080p when its done.

I suggest always setting the device output to the resolution of the display. In this case 1080p. If you get your hands on one of the few 1080p-games or you watch a BD and your PS3 is set to 720p the console has to downscale the video which the TV has to upscale again. Such useless processes can only produce bad results if anything.

depends on the game i'm playing. for instance batman:AC looked really good on 1080p and as for Uncharted 3, i prefer using it 720p. so, yeah i think it depends on the game youre playing.

Set your ps3 to display all settings then the game itself will decide which it needs when you start it up.

i'd put it on what ever your tv allows up to. regards to games wat are 1080p or 720, the ps3 switches automatically to what the game uses anyway so it isn't up to you.

I agree. I play Gran Turismo 5 in 720p and it reduces the screen tearing

GT5: 1080p = No AA and lots of screen tearing

at 720p = AA and Little screen tearing

I would love if you could change the game resolution in the game menu, instead of the PS3 resolution.
