i respect Sony for saying that they dont buy exclusives, they earn them, but the truth is that if microsoft goes to Komani with a bunch of cash, Sony will lose it. They need to start paying up to get exclusives.
[QUOTE="mushi799"]lol $50000?, Try at least $20 million to get an exclusive. Krigon
Thats like funding the whole development. With 20 million they can make atleast 2 new IP's.
It takes a lot of money to develop a AAA titles these days. It's probably costing Konami a lot more than $20 mill to create MGS4. MS paid $50 mill for two episodes, that's not even for the game, just episodes.
They should because i mean come on, a LOT of PS3 users are upset on this issue thats is being spread around and if it is true then all is lost, PS3 will not FAIL so get over that.
But yea they are losing exclusives and i really believe that if they lose MGS then all i can say is "$hit happens" As for konami then can go rot in hell if they make this decision.
But it would be in their best interest to just pay them and win it.
konami says that the ps3 doesnt have a big install base....well if you take MGS away from Sony, no crap theyre not gonna have a large install base....its games that sell the console vip3r666
Yeah really, Konami of all people should not be the ones to be worried, MGS4 will be a system seller for the PS3, they should not have to worry.
I think they should start paying everyone. The whole honor thing works in japan, but in the united states the highest bidder gets the goods. that is why microsoft is doing well with publicity and sony isnt.longhorn7
and thats why kojima isnt american.its not like the games micosoft pay for turn out great, and why are you people listening to that one guys opinion if he isnt Hideo Kojima then dont even acknowledge him

believe me, I believe the same way you do. i think the whole article was bs from a guy who has no say in the game because kojima owns the rights to the franchise. but i still think sony needs to consider at least attempting to play hardball with microsoft from the business perspectiveSony needs to do whatever it takes to keep this game exclusive. Jealous people or whoever can sit here and say this game being PS3 only isn't a big deal. But it really is. If MGS4 isn't exclusive, how many truly good reasons can you name to buy a PS3? Wireless internet is a plus, but it's not huge. And don't say the Blu-ray player, because those will become cheaper and cheaper. Today's market is all about money, that's how Microsoft is stealing exclusives and securing their own (did you know Katamari for the PS3 was canned as well?). And I don't know what this nonsense is about how MGS4 can't run on the 360...if Blu-ray were that more powerful, there would be a HUGE jump in graphics on the PS3. I take this view not because I'm against Sony, but because Sony is the only system I would ever want to buy, and this is really a big hit to it. How is it not?jlabadie88QFT
Here is an example to explain things.
Lets say I have a farm. With the rising costs of labor, water, and energy it is becoming moredifficult for me to grow crops. My crops are a favorite in the town I sell too and grocery stores would love to have an exclusive agreement with me. Now, I could sell my crops to all of the grocery stores and pretty much guarantee profits for myself and enough to continue farming or I could sell them to one grocery store only and make just enough to get by. But, if one of the grocery stores offered to pay for some of my farming costs in order to gain my exclusivity, knowing that the quality of my produce would draw in more customers and sales, then I'd be more willing to accept such an agreement.

I think that it is sad that the gaming industry is coming to this. It's really just, for lack of a better term, a bribe. I will pay you this much money to bring your product over to my platform. Its BS!!!, but since a certain company has already done this once to gain exclusive content, it probably will never stop. So if this is what sony would have to do to keep this exclusive, i say yes they should.
This has probably been said already, but, because of the late start and because of the lack in content at this point in time, Sony should pay anyone and everyone that is willing to develope console selling exclusive titles. This would be a whole different story if Sony had released the PS3 around the same time as the 360 but they didnt. They have now lost a number of exclusive titles and seem to be on their way to loosing more.
Sony needs to start investing in our investment. If we as console owners are expected to invest hundreds if not thousands of dollars in a console we should expect the manufacture to invest 10 times more making it a console worth having. Sure they invested in its creation and developement but they need to keep it going. I think the PS3 is off to a good start, but it could always be better. I happen to own both the PS3 and 360 and I must say I am truely pulling for the PS3...
