Just happened to notice it there in case anyone has been dying to download itxaos
I saw it there tonight too... it looks really good in screen shots, though the one review I've read of it on 1Up says that it's no great shakes. Not that it's broken or anything, and the review says that they did a great job of porting it to the PSP (as well as the PS2, which I found interesting) graphically and that it controls well, but that it's fairly unilluminating story-wise (aren't ALL SH games like that???) and that the "All-Flee-No-Fight" character of the game doesn't increase tension so much as turn things into a trial-and-error way of attacking the locations in the game in order to progress (translation: "You die a lot and it's frustrating").
All of that said - Definite purchase for me when the price drops, but on UMD. I could care less if it reviews "poorly".
:D
Heck, I even want to play "Obscure" eventually. Perhaps I'm blinded by fanship.
i don't like the idea of running away from monsters and memorizing the right paths to go through by trial and error. its a whole bunch of horse excretion. if i can't do head shots and blow monsters up, that's too bad. i think i will pass. i enjoyed SH: origins, because there were weapons everywhere, so you always could fight back. i will wait to see what others say about this game.

I highly suggest giving "Obscure" a shot! It's cheesy, spooky, beautifully rendered with some of the best graphics I've seen on the system. And above all else, the soundtrack is unmatched when is comes to the genre of horror in video games!
As for Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, that's sure to be my next purchase! I've been anticipating its arrival since I first got word of it appearing on the PSP. :)
^ Yeah what are the differences with the original SH ?

There's limited fighting in the original (meaning your character is never very effective, but he can try), the perspective is third-person in the original instead of over-the-shoulder, and certain aspects have been changed plot-wise and puzzle-wise and map-wise to make it a fresh experience for those of us who played the original (which is available for cheap on PSN).
Everything. That's not an exaggeration, this game has literally nothing in common with the original besides character names and the town of Silent Hill. The gameplay is different and the story isn't even recognisable. It's best to look at it as something different in it's own right rather than as a remake.^ Yeah what are the differences with the original SH ?

So Hal... being as you are our resident expert (compliment intended), have you played it and how do you feel about it?
I ended up getting this game yesterday and played with it for a few hours. Again just like any other SH games, it's a love and hate relationship.
The game has 3 parts: 1 ) explore the town on your own, 2) theme changes and you have to run for your life 3) inside the office where you are getting analyzed by the psychologist.
Love the exploring part which is intrigueing and scary as well. Music and environment settings are brilliant. Hate the theme change part when you have to run for your life. The problem is, these monsters that chases you are not slow like in SH: Origins. They come after you fast, and you have to button press to shake them off. it does not matter how fast your reaction time is to press the button, you will still take damage. The worst part is basically going from point A to B through a set of doors and pathways while monsters are chasing you. This would not be bad if you could pause and look up where to go next. If you take the wrong path and monsters catch up to you, you have to keep running till you either die from taking all the damages, or end up reaching your destination (at which point there is a cutscene and you go back to exploring the town). It's trial and error till you figure out which doors and paths to take to get this part over with. The first time you are running is exciting and fun. But when you keep dieing and have to keep doing it over and over just to reach to point B, it reaches frustration levels and you can't wait to get over this part so you can go back to exploring the town again at your own pace. You will also wish you had those weapons that were available in other SH games.
There are lots of choices that you can make, and these choices does affect which ending you get in the end. So there is replay value. I just wish the "running for your life " part was better designed. I also do miss the guns/bats/shotguns/hammer/cleaver/machette/television/IV stand/poker/ and the numerous other weapons that were available in Origins. I guess I can't compare that game to this, because.. it IS A DIFFERENT GAME and I have to accept this game for being "unique".
