Just plug in both composite and HDMI at the same time and set up the picture in the display settings.

Any recent TV with a HDMI connection should be able to pick up the signal with no problem. I have never used any other cable except the HDMI cable with my PS3. Don't waste your time. Just plug it in to the HDMI port and you should be good. And please don't waste your cash buying an expensive cable. You can get one for like 5 bucks online.

Lol. he was full of crap. The only reason you need an expensive HDMI cable is when you are planning on running it for longer than 50 feet because the digital signal starts to degrade after that..

HDMI is a digital cable my friend, it's all 1's and 0's running through it. There is no better or worse signal.

Well, if you mean 10+ meters and resolutions above 720p, then expensive cable is the way to go. Just don't buy Monster or crap like that, Bluejeans are good.

For short cables like 1,5-3m, any cable will do. HDMI is like a glorified USB cable.

1.) You can get good HDMI cables for 10 bucks.

2.) It has to be HDCP 1.3 compliant apparently to work with the PS3.

3.) If you plug in an HDMI cable it usually automatically recognizes it on the PS3 and sets up when you turn it on. If not just hit the power button and hold it until it beeps twice when turning it on to reset it.

HDMI is a digital signal that if it makes the connection it doesn't matter which cable it is. Expensive cables are not needed in the HDMI data transfer. Before HDMI the analog signal was very sensitive to any kind of radio signal near by. Just remember digital is a simple on/off signal and analog is a series of sine waves (radio frequency waves) that can have interference from all kinds of sources.
