Since hd dvd looks dead thinking about getting a ps3 because of blu ray

My question is what is the pros cons of it as a blu ray player versus a standalone? I havent been able to find anything about this online. I figure if Im gonna buy a standalone blu ray player i might think about getting a ps3 if its comparable. I have read it doesnt do 24 fps in movies what other drawbacks are there to it? Thanks and btw if there is a sticky about this i couldnt find it thanks!

There are a handful of games i want to play also resistance looks and sounds cool. I have a wii and 360 with hd dvd add on. I figure if it does blu ray decently ill be spending the money anyway. Can you use any hdmi cable or is it ps3 specific? Also what audio does it support?JOHN117_basic
