I read someone else's opinion on another forum about this subject and he was saying the reason beta-max lost was due to not supporting the porn industry. Apparently Blu ray (Sony) is doing the same. And he say's that the same will happen again due to this fact... Even though blu ray is the more advanced product.

I dont think that it helps with the name HD DVD as for people who dont now there's a choice and have a "HD" Tv they'd automaticly pick HD-DVD.

Whats your opinion on it? And any other news related to Blu-Ray v HD-DVD.

Thanks

so what people won't get to jerk off to hd porn. blueray seems better that hddvd to me in my exp. Like a bestbuy they had a setup demoing the two and blueray seemed better because the hddvd seemed to flicker with different colours once and a while.

Bluray is currently winning the race, and seems to be the favorite to be the next-gen format. That's the only thing you need to know.

It was some else's opnion and I belive that that was'nt the only reason. It depends on movies out for the format and I really belive the name of HD-DVD will be a problem. But Blu-Ray is the more advanced format so i'm not totally sure?

England (where I live) has alot more HD-DVD movies out at the minute than Blu-ray which is a real problem. I'm waiting to buy one when more titles come out.... I know america has a lot more.

They need to sort this out.. Its not helping...

Plus how long do you think it will go on?

First of All, Vivid among other PORN companies are supporting Blu-Ray, however as it stands more are supporting HD-DVD..yes.

However, Porn back then was hard to get in homes by any other means, whereas today, you can get it off the net, etc. It won't make a dramatic difference like back then, when people wanted to get PORN in their homes.

Anyways, Blu-Ray is destroying HD-DVD big time, and Blu-Ray has the entire Industries Support save for Universal.

Then there are exclusives like Columbia, Sony Pictures, Disney, Tristar, and more, so don't worry about it.

I do have an HD-DVD player, but due to the EXTREME lack of movies, I haven't used it in about a month, so there you go.

Theres only really a format war in America, here in Australia weve already finished choosing and consumers have said enough with HD-DVD we want Blue Ray. It is the most difficult task to find a shop selling HD-DVD here in Aus. In Japan or China one of em they are completly phasing out DVD's alltogether and replacing them with Blue-Ray discs. Thats the same with many other asian countries. Europe is dead on Blue-Ray as well. The only real 'possible' fight is in America. But i believe blue-ray with all its global, studio support will end up number one.

In the UK there's more HD-DVD movies on sale than Blu-Ray. Look on amazon.co.uk

Amazon is just one SITE, and they owners are notorious HD-DVD supporters, but it doesn't matter, they are just one SITE of many outlets that sell Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.

Anyways, here is a link for your thread about a Blu-Ray Player for 360...

Tehn that would eliminate the need for me to get a PS3 to watch Blu-Ray because MS would sell it for like 200 or 250.

WTF?! :|  That's a horrible reason, and, if that would be true, I would have been truly ashamed of our country. But obviously this was the ranting of a complete idiot, but that kind of shames me too, considering we have dumbasses like that here.  But I can't see porn playing a role here...at least I hope it doesn't... pathetic :(

Now that that's cleared, back to the topic. BR is better quality than HD-DVD in all aspects. I think there is a kind of prestige that people feel when buying something with BR on it instead of just plain HD-DVD (even though I see the correlation in names between the HD-TV and HD-DVD, meaning that I understand your point). I may be the least materialistic person in US but I realize that brands, fancy names, expensive prices, and commercialism go a long way in this country, saying that even I can be considered a hypocrite, considering we including myself are subject to the popular culture (some more than others).

Also BR is on the PS3, plus there are a lot of exclusive film studio contracts. so BR is doing fine and will only get strong in time, but that may be too cliche of a phrase by now.

if you think its gonna play a key role now you're wrong. there's been a lot of porn hd dvd movies that have come out and if you say porn is a huge factor, shouldn't these hd dvd porn movies be selling like mad? Btw walk into an XXX video store, betcha won't see hd dvd there

I bet, those were the porn golden years. plus the only way to get porn was on video tapes unlike today. I guess i understand it back then, but in today's era of the internet, getting a porn-fix takes seconds, so it doesn't matter what format of disk is widely used by the adult industry because the fans will be too busy d-loading their work from the free websites. Either way this sounds ridiculous and lowlife-esc, LOL. Paying $30 bucks for a hi-qual. porn, now if that's not being desperate, i don't know what is

actually i think 90 percent of people download porn nowadays, only about 10 percent actually go out to buy porn and a lot of it is still being made on vhs, so don't think porn industry has that much say anymore because the dont they all went the way of the internet.

i think hd-dvd has the better name for consumers that just bought an hd tv and dont know that much and they look at prices and go oh yea hd-dvd is cheaper too. but realistically blu-ray is a farther step into the future and that what the industry needs a farther ahead product that will last longer
