So after hearing about how a few ps3 reviews/previews it sounds like Warhawk and Lair is the only games that the sixaxis works great with. While it sounds like the rest of the games is being "forced" to find something to use it (motion sensing) with. I've yet to try it out for myself so I'm still a bit excited but it seems like in the reviews/previews on gamespot they usually say that the motion sensing feature on this and that game (example. Ninja Gaiden Sigma) was no good, BUT then if the game DOESN'T have motion sensing they still loose points.

So in other words. Games who does have it gets lower score for bad use and those who doesn't have it gets lower because they didn't use it. With the exception of Warhawk and Lair it sounds like the motion sensing is/was a bad idea.

And i'll be really sad if they start to use motion sensing in each and every game just because they feel like they have to (imagine street fighter, where you gotta move the controller to jump, just took the worst situation i could find). What do you think?

Personally im not a fan of the motion sensing. It is always added on as an after thought and i always just turn it off. The only real time i think it will be good is in flight, so like you said, Lair and Warhawk.

Im just dreading them bringing out pro evo with motion control!!! That would ruin my life.

Some games are all the good for it, but usually it's a tacked on gimmick.

if it's done well then it can be a good idea. like dan said tho usually it's done stupidly and makes it feel like a gimmick.

I love the idea of a normal controller with motion sensing built it. It's great because you can use it if you want and not be forced to use it. I've only used it with Motorstorm, which I'm actually getting pretty good at in first person mode. It's a great idea that hasn't been used too much, but hopefully Lair and Warhawk will change that.

I think it was a good idea. I like that Sony went a different direction this generation. However, so far, it feels like un-tapped potential. Motorstorm was interesting, but I (personally) found it too hard. Resistance felt a little tacked on. I think that there are games out there that could make good use of it (such as the upcoming/already mentioned Lair/Warhawk), but it's still kind of new and developers haven't had the time yet to really stretch their creative wings with this new "tool".

As for what you said about reviews, it does seem a little damned if you do, damned if you don't sometimes.

yea i thought the motion sensing was an ok idea but i find myself and other gamers reffering back to the original way of doing things and not using the senser. Unfortunately it might be that way with a lot of games but im sure some games will find a good use for it and make you think how you ever played a game without it8)

Most other games use it on a 2D plane, which makes no sense because you have the analog stick

if it was more like the wii's motion sensor it would have been better

Its been done already, by microsoft, on pc. Its only really fun with flight, and it can be used well in mini-games. Lair looks better for the motion control actually, i cant wait to play it!

Folklore has a great use of sixaxis. It acctually feels like a part of gameplay rather than an addition.

Thats a good example of how it can be implemented and not feel tacked on...

But in my opinion, despite being a cool new feature, they really needed to patch things up with immersion sooner so they could have rumble and sixaxis together.

If the release a second controller (rumble / sixaxis) I think it would be a smart move. Especially for games like Killzone 2, MGS, and future sports titles.

Thats just my take on it...

Motion sensing was a great idea, it will add emotion to some games. Specially flying and driving games!

Microsoft kinda bought part of immersion, its not likely that sony can have rumble on their controller. Microsoft could probably try to take the motion sensing from Sony if they wanted to be pricks, microsoft had a pc pad that was basically like the sixaxis.

Personally I used it all the time for melees in Call of Duty 3. It was so much more satisfying for some reason to do it that way.

Sony and Immersion already settled their legal dispute and immersion is now licensing the new "touch sense" technology to be used in playstation products. MS did have a deal with immersion that said immersion wasn't allowed to license rumble to sony, but immersion is licensing "touch sense" to sony, which is just a way to disconsider MS's deal IMO. MS is sueing immersion now because of all this.

currently theres still no games that has utilized the tilty well. Maybe later we'll see some creative uses for it, probably killzone 2 and mgs4. I would like it really well though if FPS's will let you use tilty to lean left and right constantly to dodge bullets or peep out of cover, I think the killzone trailer showed this, it would really be an innovation if it does.

Your joypad nowholds more functions with the sixaxis and you call it a bad idea.?

It's like somebody offers you $100 and you throw it away because your wallet is "full"..

PS3 games are just coming, there is plenty much space for the sensing function, why judge it at such an early stage?

I'm not a huge fan of motion sensing unless it's in a game as a fun feature, not a tacked on gimmick. I think all games should offer motion sensing for the fans of it, but also have an option to use other controls for those who dont like it; ie: Rainbow Six: Vegas' snake cam can be controlled with SIXAXIS or the right analog stick.

I agree, I love flOw. They made it work in that game but some games just do a bad job of incorpirating in fun ways.

I reckon the controller works great-but havent used the motion sense in it yet as I've only 1 game at moment-Resistance+it doesn't seem to do any motion sensing on that game.

I would have prefered the same controller but with dual shock instead of the motion sensor.

Motorstorm uses it pretty well, Resistance is alright, but it's not that great for online, I love the use in Call of Duty 3 though.

it's great as a warhawk beta tester I thought it was really well done withflying the warhawks, and games like call of duty 3I thought did a good job adding it in, ninja gaiden sigma did have it tacked on but i actually like powering up the fire attack thing by shaking the controller as I hated some of the bosses so much it was great to actually put some effort by shaking the controller like a madman to finish off one of those bastard bosses

sixaxis is not a bad idea. It gives players more available controls without complicated button combinations. Having the rumble would be great i guess, but i dont like it personally.

I think the motion sensing is terrible in most games. No idea why it's in NGS, to be honest.

Super Rub-A-Dub uses it swell. :) I hear Heavenly Sword uses it well, even if only sometimes. It really is handy for some games but not for all. Alot of Sports games don't bother with making you use it (All Pro 2K8,The Bigs and NBA Home Court come to mind). So Sony isn't forcing folks to find a use for it but if a developer wants to use it, it's there.

It seems like I've misunderstood a part of this. You see my PS3 is on the way (shipping as we speak) and I've never personally tried it. It sounds like you have the option to use the motion sensing and that the game does not require you to use it in which case I agree that it can only be a positive thing. However when I wrote the original post I thought that you had no other choice but to play the game with the motion sensing if it was available. In that case I don't see why the reviewers usually bash these games for having a optional feature, they never (or at least usually dont) mention that it's optional either.

Please confirm/correct me on this. I'm still a little confused.

Some games have it as an option and some games have it as the only choice. Though to be honest, you're right, the reviewers never mention that it's optional, they just rip it apart (even if it's well implemented sometimes). For example, Super-Rub-a-Dub only works with the Six-Axis and once you play it, you'll understand why. Is it the best game in the world? Well...not really....but its use of the Six-Axis is excellent.

I hate the motion detecting...every time I try to pull of a melee in COD3 I end up nearly dying. It lacks sensitivity as in it's the same as pushing the left button, only it is liklier you'll screw up trying to do it.
