So here we are, which one do you prefer? Honestly, i prefer the lighter weight of the sixaxis and every time i've tried to use a dualshock 3 i've been totally put off by the vibration. It annoys me at this stage though that i have to pay nearly 100 australian dollars (roughly 30 more than the sixaxis) to get a new controller which i won't even like so much. So what's your preference?

ds3 is ten times better. Not only does it have the rumble but it has the six axis built in too.

Can't ask for much more.

Well since both have sixaxis, do you want to buy an old reg, or a new daulshock. Dont think they even make non dualshock anymore.

Reg - $20-30

Dualshock - $50 - 60

The vibration annoys you? Vibration is supposed to be something that you notice half-subconsciously and it enhances your gameplayed and helps immersion.

The DS3 seems to be better constructed than the sixaxis. My sixaxis still works but has issues that make it almost unusable now. As for vibration you can turn the feature off (that's what I do most of the time).

I prefer the heavier DualShock 3 over the Six Axis. The vibration is just an added extra, but it's never really been something I cared about. In some games, it's actually an annoyance, but really just depends.

DS3 is just a better controller. I have 2 DS3s and 2 Sixaxis controllers. Once you get a DS3 there's just no going back.

DS3... The Sixaxis controllers were made better and are more durable though. I still have my Sixaxis from my launch 60GB, and it works great.

actually the sixaxis are more fragile. I've destroyed a sixaxis controller in my hands by just twisting the dang thing (warhawk back in the day peeved me off hahaha).

ds3 are tougher.

I just got my DS3 a few days ago (in blue) and that thing is vastly improved...Though I wish they would have fixed the L2/R2 triggers to a concave design :( My biggest complaint about the Sixaxis (other than the aforementioned shoulder buttons) was that the thing had no weight to it, it felt like a good twist would rip it in half...The DS3 is far more substantial feeling.

If I could have them alter one thing on the DS3 it would be to tighten up the sticks.

The ds3 are far superior when playing games that make you hit L3 to sprint my sixaxis controllers would crumble.

I'm with you TC. I prefer the Sixaxis. My DS3 seems hyper sensitive. The right thumb stick will melee often when I'm trying to move my aim on MW2, resulting in sure death.

DS3. Though to be fair, the girl gamers I know prefer the sixaxis--they say the DS3 is too heavy for them.

I never had the choice between sixaxis and ds3 always got the ds3 with my slim but i have to admit htat that i turn off the vibrations most of the time when i'm playing because the vibrations aren't that subtle most of the time (killzone2 multiplayer for some reason, the vibs really piss me off) and to much vibrations make my pinkys feel numb. however i have been using it with the recent GT5 time trial where they feel more balanced. I am not pleased at the price of the DualShock 3 though.

Not the case for me. Then again, I've never abused the controller either, but regardless of that, the Sixaxis controller are of higher quality than the DS3s.

I prefer the DS3. The added function of the DS3 is great, but I actually like it more due to its heavier/solid feel. The Sixaxis just felt cheap/flimsy.

i really dont notice much of a weight difference either. i do think the analog sticksare tighter on my sixaxis controllers though. regardless, we shouldnt be complaining, we have the bestjoystick of all the consoles.

I'm so used to the Sixaxis that the DS3 is too heavy and vibration messes me up a lot when I try to focus. Plus I have yet to use a game (besides Resistance) that requires Sixaxis so it doesn't matter to me.

I just like the sturdiness of the DS3. My Sixaxis has really jacked up analog sticks.

Sixaxis. I prefer the fact that it's lighter as well as the lack of vibration because I don't like vibration and some games don't let you turn it off. However, my Sixaxis's analog stick is messed up and I'm not shelling $50 for a new controller. So I use my DS3. :(

I know right! I used to play ps2 games with vibration on and it always added to the experience except i'm just completely not used to it now :S. I need a new controller anyway so i will probably have to deal with it..........oooooooooor just turn the vibration off.

Microsoft still has the best pad. When is Sony going to realize that they need to switch up the sticks just a tad--has this not been a complaint from gamers since the very first dualshock?

I've yet to get a DS3 controller. I might soon because of my current controller issues.

But I don't really feel a motor makes much of a difference. If there is no difference in price, I'll get a DS3. But, if it costs more. Then I'll just get another sixaxis controller.

That's the exact same problem I have! I know those games that require you to "Forward + L3" play a big part in causing that problem.

Happened to me too. Also got an unresponsive square button on one of them. Dualshock 3 is my choice for the win.

I'm not sure why anyone would prefer sixaxis over dual shock. The sixaxis controller is too light and feels very cheap IMO.
