i have it for the xbox 360 and it is great a little tough though if you are use to tony hawk just give it about an hour to learn the controls and you should be good from there

Best game on the PS3 atm imo. Ive spent countless hours on it since its launch. The multiplayer needs some work, but is still a ton of fun

It's a great game, much more a skate "sim" than the more arcade-ish Tony Hawk series. It's got a few funky issues, mainly camera angle stuff and I'd really like to be able to get of my board and walk, it would make sessioning stair cases so much easier, but for the most part it's a great game. I think the gamespot review is really unfair as one of their biggest complaints is the framerate which I honestly haven't noticed (I have yet to go online, however). I'd give it an 8.5 and say if you're a fan of skateboarding you must have this game. Pulling of tricks and tech lines is very, very satisfying.

I think Tony Hawk said it best on "Rome is Burning" when asked about the "Skate" game..."The thing is, if you make a game as difficult and intricate as real skating, it's going to turn a lot of people off." I played the demo, thought it was nice, but Tony Hawk's point rang true. I'm not going to spend and hour to get the absolute right angle flick to get a Pop Shove It off of a rail grind. If I wanted that level of difficulty, I'd skate myself. I think the Tony Hawk series will continue it's domination over the genre with Proving Ground.

I have resistance, rainbow six, warhawk, and skate...and i can say by far skate is the best purchase out of all of them imo, i play skate online EVERY chance i get, i LOVE the online, usually i hate multiplayer because it feels too large and nobody knows each other, i like to play with people im familiar with, with skate since the rooms are small amounts of people it feels a lot more fun for me, and the singleplayer is great too, i play both single and multi back and forth, but the first day i got skate i spent like 6 hours playing multiplayer no joke.

About the framerate, i dont notice any problems for singleplayer, but for multiplayer it depends on other peoples connections in the room, obviously lag will take place in any online game, but it really doesnt bother me, its not bad enough to keep me from playing, the only game that the framerate made playing impossible for me was true crime: NY

skate is actually pretty darn cool. it's a refreshing change from the tired tony hawk series. I like the controls and it really feels like I have to learn to do tricks. The manuals are freakin' hard for me and that's good. A sense of accomplishment is what games are supposed to be like. I'm sure a programmer could look at the tony hawk code and still find ps1 comments in there :).
