To those of you who have played both demos, I am wondering which one you prefered. I have only played the skate demo, and I thought it was decent. So, what do you guys prefer?

thpg was trash. Skate actually made me love skateboarding. The skill and reward you get from doing tricks is AWESOME. I think I may actually buy it.

While I think Tony Hawk has more replay value (for online play and such, I can see Skate getting gimmicky quickly), I still agree with everyone on Skate once I played the demo.

I just love how Skate is how you get better at the game yourself, with skill, rather than Tony Hawk being stats and such.

What I think turns me off from Skate is that there are limited moves... The DarkSlide was always my signature moves in Tony Hawk games and was disappointed when Gamespot or Gametrailers, can't remember which, said it wawsn't in Skate.

Tony Hawk it looks like has more "open" world with more stuff to actually skate on (as the city isn't as realistic as San Vanelona) and seems to be built for skating seems to give it more replay value. I want to see the multiplayer modes ghead to head, then I'll decide. I also like Tony Hawk's Video Editor.

It's a toss up at the moment for a me and some others.

I've been a TH fan since the first game, but I'm going with Skate this time. THPG is pretty much the same as P8 and it's getting boring. If adding different career paths and a gimmicky NTG mode is the best they can come up with, then I won't be buying it.

I found Skate to be quite refreshing and fun to play. You definitely feel more satisfied when you land a few decent tricks. It was a bit weird playing it at first though lol.

The THPS trick system is just old. It's been nearly 10 years that we've been doing the same tricks.

Besides, skate and it's different approach reminded me of Trasher: skate and destroy for the PSX. That alone made the game worth my while.

I'm sure I'l end up getting both, but I'm more curious about SKATE. It's fresh and new and shows promise in future sequals. It's more of a challenge andthe controlls are akward being use to skating TH style for so many years, but it's all good. I still have slight hope and a place in my heart for the TH franchise so I willlikely invest and play. I personally can't have enough PS3 games at the moment. Both demos are good, but I still find myself compelled to Skate.

Im not even a skating fan, but I have played some Tony Hawk games and they were enjoyable, but after I played the Skate demo I was never going to go back to Tony Hawk games, because Skate is WAY MORE realistic and better. I actually felt like I was doing those tricks.

yea skate>thpg, Skate feels more natural and is more rewarding, you have to have enough speed and such to do certain tricks.its more challenging, and u actually feel good after landing a hard trick, Tony hawk is getteing old, the last game i played was th underground, and it hasnt really changed since then, only graphics and the ntt thing.I really like skate ive been playing the demo since thursday, ive played demo for like 4 hours alredy.

Skate is going to be way better than Tony Hawk's Proving Ground because nothing really changes in any Tony Hawk game.

I'm going to buy Skate. The Tony Hawk demo is like a cruel joke compared to Skate. I just don't like the timer on the demo.

The framerate hitches from time to time, I hope that isn't in the final build.

How did you play the demo for 15 hours? It has a 30 min timer on it. Are you able to play it again once you reboot? I figured once the timer was up, you were done. I may have to download it again.

Don't get Skate 1, get Skate 2 if you don't want to get Proving Ground. Skate 1 sucked, if you're deciding between Skate 1 and Proving Ground, Proving Ground is miles better. So don't waste your time with Skate 1, just get Skate 2, or wait till Skate 3 comes out.

Problems with Skate 1:

The camera is too low and you can't change it. Your skater obstructs your view and because the camera is pointed at the sky, you can't view your surroundings very easily.

You can't change the music, there's no playlist to view.

You can't get off your board to get around obstacles that are impossible to skate over.

Go with skate or skate 2 for a more realistic feeling skate game. But if you like the THPS formula and like doing insanely long runs the PG is for you.
