skate or tony hawk's proving ground

I'm getting Skate, for sure. TH hasn't been good since Tony Hawk 3. The demo wasn't anything special, to me. They really didn't update the graphics much, it's jaggy, ugly color pallette, gross character models... that series really needs to step it up, because this season Tony and all his buddies will be playing Skate instead.

Skate had a great IGN review, it looks really promising and pretty original. Some competition will do Tony good.

SKATE is something I haven't played before and anything to put more money in Rob and Big's pocket, I will do...

Tony Hawk has enough money and has been retired for years,let the small guys have their moment in the sun for once...

Tony Hawk is an outdated franchise even though I have my doubts about EA Sports developing SKATE, It's got great reviews, so I'm not worried, I'm picking up next week with Stranglehold...

i have no Idea what everyone is crying about "EA sucks" .. why? i have no complains about there games so far. "BUt but.. ze graphiz zuckz!" .. if that is all everyone cares about. then just die a slow death. please.. you are not worthy of games. and Skate is awesome. and EA is in on it. so i guess all you tools complaining about EA, are going to miss out on a great game.. i laugh at you. poor people. Ive got Demos for THPG and Skate on both my 360 and PS3..I like skate MUCH! better..Tony Hawk hasnt been good since THPS4

I like the whole system with skate with the flick-it controls.

The graphics look the same for both consoles also..which is good since its multiplat. :)

i would go for skate. it's more realistic and different

man skate! over anything, skate is real and it feels real, for people who skate and live skating in real life, THKPG doesnt offer the realism that skate does, i mean smashing buttons to get a fake combo...those times are over, skate puts the real feeling on skating games, i had give up in skateboarding games, but since i played skate....im back!!! sorry THKPG u r just not good enough... same O' same O'gioiscool2

After just playing the stake demo...

Skate brings a new level of control and weilding of tricks to the genre. TH is more button mashing/arcade style.

Skate is like uhm... you need to use finesse. Like when doing Ryu's shoyruken in Street fighter. Know what I mean? There are "moves" to do that aren't just button combos.. its really new, and I love it. I just sat and free skated for a while... so many combinations with 1 stick being your bodies orientation, and the other you feet.

the second i finished the skate demo today (omg i can't beleive how much i love that game now) i went and deleted that horrible Tony Hawk Proving Ground demo, TH games have sucked since THug1, i love the THPS series, not the abominations that were THUG1, THUG2, THAW, THP8, THDJ, and THPG.americahellyeah

Having just played both demos and having owned every THPS game since the PS debut I'm sad to say but I think Tony has run his course, nothing overly new and a tagged on balance system.

Having played both demos (TH and skate.), i dont think i will ever even so much as look at another Tony Hawk. I mean, dont get me wrong TH is not a bad game, but...skate is something NEW. Which TH has hardly changed in the past few titles.

For me, TH has run its course.

yes, you can do a group session with up to 4 people.

I am in the few that really enjoyed, Project 8.. in fact my buddy having that game is what prompted me to get a PS3. I had never got into a Tony Hawk game before, I was obsessed with finishing it, and could not stop playing it. When the Proving Ground Demo came out, I really loved the new Nail the Trick grab options, and the agro-speed deal... and was super excited that there was online capabilities.

ThenI downloaded Skate, and realized what a skateboarding game should be like.

i thought the skate demo is very so-so.

graphics were not all impressive, and i noticed a drop in framerate too.

game was a little boring, however... it IS a skateboarding game :)
