The Fallout games weren't unplayable. Most of the problems came from the crappy Gamebryo engine, and thankfully they ditched that.

As mentioned before, they're building Skyrim on a new engine which means not all old problems will exist if any. But at the same time means that new problems might arise. That being said, Bethesda know what they're doing as they have had much experience with huge world games (New Vegas was not made by them as said above). Even if problems do come up with the release, they'll patch it soon.
Inferior to PC is more than likely going to happen, to Xbox 360 I doubt it. But rest assured, even if there would be significant problems they won't last long. I have faith in that team.

But Bethesda testing/QA it. Usually large companies out source testing right before a game is to ship, but for reason Bethesda doesn't do this. Instead they keep the same small amount of testers/QA.

Compare New Vegas with a much simplier game like Forza 3, which should have fewer testers

Microsoft outsourced a huge team just to test a racing game and the only thing they had fewer things to do than an open-world RPG.

Yeah.. a large part of how glitchy the game was though simply boils down to the fact that patching on console can be a long arduous process, and take up to 6 weeks just to get a patch approved... PC games on the other hand, you can just upload the patch immediately after its finished.17 QA Testers in Fallout 3 (English release)
17 Turn 10 Testers in Forza 3 (English Release)
Its all the ancillary testers about another 20+ that make up the big numbers for Forza 3, and they should, while it might seem like a "smaller game" it really has alot more components that need to be tested and companies that need to approve of how their products are being displayed, not to mention a massive online function that needs to be "broken and rebuilt" over and over again to ensure their aren't any loopholes or glitches for people to take advantage of.
a ridiculous amount of customization where they have to test thousands of both tuning and cosmetic changes to ensure they work properly, and even after all that there's still glitches.. From a QA perspective Forza has alot more to deal with than Fallout NV that has no product placement, online of any sort (other than DLC), and the company itself knows no matter how much testing and coding they do it will still have a ton of glitches because the way the game was designed..
Really Bethesda is a great company but they do kind of a have a "sorry, can't fix everything" sort of perspective on their software.. With sandbox games it kinda goes with the territory.
People often say certain games are so much worse on PS3, but to be honest I can't even notice a difference. As long as the performance isn't New-Vegas bad where it freezes every 30 minutes, it won't detract from the experience for me.
There will always be some childish fanboys who have nothing better to do with their lives than rant about how a certain game is going to be better on their system than the other one. I'm just going to buy the game and not worry about it. My son played Fallout 3 on the other console and I played it on the PS3. They were both full of bugs and glitches. In fact, my son had some problems that seemed quite a bit more serious than the ones I had. I think he bought some DLC for it that actually had to be recalled because it was corrupted. Oh yeah, it was soooo much better on the other console
I think you're forgetting that the PS3 version of Oblivion was vastly superior, even with a staggered release date they had the engine running great on the PS3.. and Fallout 3 and New Vegas was equally buggy and terrible on both 360 and PS3.. There will be glitches and bugs in the game, with a world that size its inevitable, but the team making the Elder Scrolls series knows what they're doing (and New Vegas wasn't even made by Bethesda) that plus a brand new engine specifically designed to run on consoles.. I'm not worried in the least, its going to amazing.. PoisoN_Facecam0
Actually the fallout games never game me any problems on my 360, even vegas.

I notice on games my friend has on his ps3 that I have on my 360, and when I traded my 360 black ops for ps3 black ops it was like going back a gen.
While I do think the 360 may have an edge in the technical department, at any rate I still think Skyrim will be worth buying on whatever system you have. If you only have a PS3, by all means I would still get Skyrim in a heartbeat once it comes out. If you have a 360 or PC though, then you might want to reconsider.

I saw your SIG - GOOD LUCK platting Vanquish man. If you do, you are seriously good at gaming. I gave up on the last challenge mission - got to the 5th round of hte last challenge, and I would just keep dying. It's the first plat I gave up on since I decided to start platting stuff - but mind you I'm relatively new at the trophy thing - only got 2 plats before even tryign Vanquish, and another after that.
As for the topic, it may or may not be. Hopefully skyrim will be a good version on the ps3 - hopefully the most optimal version of skyrim (oblivion on ps3 is the most superior version of hte game, as people say). I can't wait for that and dark souls!

You're in the minority on that one then..I don't know why I hadn't thought of it until you guys brought it up, but a new engine is encouraging. Hopefully it'll be much more stable than GameBryo.
I don't know why you guys are comparing it to Oblivion, that had a year longer development than on 360. Fallout 3 is more relevant, since all 3 platforms had simultaneous releases. That didn't turn out so well, but we can hope the new engine makes a difference. DeathtransitFallout 3 was also an entirely new game, if you look at the gameplay it looks almost exactly like Oblivion/Morrowind
