Just wanna know your opinion... I prefer shooting games in third person, but in first person, I like action adventure better. Lol yeah, I know, I'm the opposite of almost everyone.

Dark Messiah, Oblivion and Assault on Dark Athena proved to be a lot better than they would in third person. Oblivion is a great example: You can barely aim to specific parts of the enemy's body with a sword in third person.

Not to mention the gold, good, ol' Hexen, back in the day.

Well, I guess it would depend on the game. Usually slashers are better played in third person.

Something like Oblivion is different though. As it's an RPG. So it doesn't play like a slasher game.

Honestly, I don't enjoy Morrowind's or Oblivion's combat system much at all. But I do enjoy Condemned's first person melee, so I don't really know where I stand.

if it's first person, you either cant do the awesome combos that have your character spin around 3 times in the air, or it's pretty much unplayable and lame to watch doing combos, since you wont know what's going on.

Yeah, and it isn't like hitting certain body parts in Oblivion is effective in anyway...

I prefer third person, but if someone makes a first person hack & slash game, I'd try it.

Big fan of Dynasty Warriors here, and I can't wait for Bayonetta.

I like first person adventure games but slashing games like GoW and Wolverine should be in 3rd person. In fact I've never played on in first person.

I've been playing Demon's Souls, and it is perfect regarding the camera. Third person, and you can lock on to shoot arrows in third person, or switch to first person for the bow.

The problem with oblivion's third person is as you change the camera your attacks change direction.

If it relies on combos it has to be 3rd person. I don't much care what perspective a game is in, as long as it is good.

I prefer 3rd person overall, whether it's a shooter or melee based. But 3rd person is infinately better for close combat games.
Oblivions 3rd person was more of an afterthought and the animations and character models looked terrible.
You couldn't make a game like DMC or Ninja Gaiden in 1st person.

I think you guys are missing the point... I mean slashing in first person is much more effective. Take a look at Dark Messiah or Condemned. The melee in first person is more appealing to me.

But I meant Action Adventure games, sorry, not slashers like Dynasty Warriors and God of War. It's the same genre of games, but hopefully everyone here knows the difference :D

Third-person definitely! you wouldn't see the awesome moves in a First-person view... in gmes like God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, Warriors Orochi, etc...

interesting, most would say the opposite. But I would have to agree with you. Both MGS4 (although very tactical as well) and RE games both do shooters very well.

I'd have to say that I like action adventure better in third. I like seeing who I am controlling.

MGS4 is the peak of third person shooters, and in my opinion, Condemned for first person melee.

I like First Person shooter view more than third person.

But I don't mind the over-the-shoulder style like in Dead Space and Resident Evil 5

I don't like first person because you can easily get taken out from behind. So slashing games are prefered from third person for me.
