What are the pros and cons of each?

Why did Sony take out the option to install another OS anyway? Sony always does something weird like that. The Cell isnt any less powerful than the Cell in the original models. Theres no reason the Slim cant handle another OS being installed on it. I think its just Sonys sneaky plan of getting people to help rid the shelves of the older PS3. The first thing people learn about the Slim is that it cant support other OSs so they become curious and decide to pick up the older model so they dont miss out on anything.
I dont know why anyone would want to install Linux anyway.
I'm buying the slim. Smaller, lighter, quieter, cooler, more energy efficient. Hard drive does'nt matter since they're all upgradeable. I went to go look at the remaining 80 gb's in store and didn't realize they no longer come with the chrome casing? It's some fake painted non-shiney chrome? That looks even cheaper then the new slim in my opinion..F123DTV0Hasn't it been confirmed that you can't upgrade the slim's harddrive?

Yes, you most likely will be able to upgrade the harddrive. I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't be able to.

You can upgrade the hard drive. See this video:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/21/video-another-look-at-ps3-slim-and-its-removable-hdd
The only disadvantage I see is the Slim doesn't havethe power switch on the back to turn the power off to the system completely. So really...in the long run...the slim might not be that much of an energy saver, as system will still have power going to the system eventhough you have it off (red light showing that it's off).
