Slimline PS3 in 2010

PS1 had a smaller version, PS2 has a smaller version and I am fully confident that PS3 will have a smaller version which I expect to come out in 2010. I am sure that with a smaller PS3 model plus a price drop would send PS3 selling to the stratosphere ! its true it happened with the PS1&2 so ofcourse same will happen with the PS3.

This is an amazing strategy from Sony because by 2010  all the consoles will be old and most people might lose interest then BANG! here comes the slimline PS3 and the sales increase worldwide.

I'm buying a PS3 in September and I will most likely buy a slimeline PS3 in 2010, will you ?

There will probably be a slimline PS3 but it wont be as slim and the PStwo.MotherSuperior

You never know, PS3 might be slimmer then you think I mean the redesign PS2 is slim but when I actually got it I found that it is smaller then I thought.

I definitely believe that their will be a redisign PS3 but it wont come out for a few years.

but this is the first time that a harddrive is actually an integral part of the system soi'm pretty sure they aren't going to slim down...more like a diet if they if anythingjsmoke03

When Ken talked about the 45 nm chips in 2008 he also talked about a re0designed ps3,so i would expect one sometime in 2008.blacktorn

2008... I think thats a little too early.

I wouldn't expect a slim version as soon as 2010, thats only 3 years away.
Take a look at previous PlayStations, PSX launched in 1994 (Japan) and the PSOne launched in 2000. Thats 6 years to come out with a smaller version.
Playstation 2 launched in 2000, and the Slim PS2 launched late in 2004. Thats just over 4 years, a year and a bit shy of the 6 years to make a smaller PSX.

Now take in to consideration on how expensive the PS3 is, and they will want to really push the 60GB one (as seen over the past month of the 20GB fading out) I wouldn't expect a Slim PS3 for at least 5 years.

ermm - definently possible but not as thin as you think it would be, about 3-4 cm thinner, blu-ray read is huge!Dante865
