I stumbled across these filters and plugs that snap on to the PS3 vents and plug into unused ports. I smoke and have three cats. Theres plenty of dust created in my house, so I thought I'd give theses a try. They didn't cost much. I felt it doesn't hurt to add a little more protection to my system. No dust or smoke is getting in my PS3 now.

I wouldn't use those filters because if the get pluged it will allow the console to over heat fairly quick. I also smoke but when I want to smoke I just go out side (have been doing this for years). Besides it allows for a person to get up and move around some. Another thing is smoke will still get into the console because it can get into just about any place that air can get into.

I got them from Play-asia.com. I've considered the possibilities of limited air flow and overheating. The filters are not that thick. They still allow air to pass. The plugs are for the unused ports that are not for air intake. The plugs prevent and protect dust build up. I've been monitoring the tempature of the system for several weeks with a liquid crystal stick on thermometer. After I installed the filters there has been no difference. I'm not saying they are a neccessity by any means. It's just a little inexpensiveadded protection, that causes no harm,to keep me at ease.
