when it comes out, do we need to go to the store and physically purchase the disc, or are games only downloadable?

Consoles aren't nearly ready to go full-digital yet. Though I'm quite sure every game will also be available digitally, but that's pretty much the case already with console games.

There will still be physical copies of most games, but not all. All games will be up for download. Already on PS3 there are games you can only get by download... like Dust 514, Crysis 1, Dead Nation... and many more.

Downloadable only. The disc drive is solely for aesthetic purposes.

If Sony really wants to push DD, they should try to follow the Steam model of offering deeper discounts. Make it so those with PS+ get a discount.

You will know when games are 100% full digital and downloadable from the PSN and no longer physical discs when there are no more game shops across the globe to buy them from. Not to mention if it was 100% full digital from PSN etc. It would kill game shops as console games are pretty much its life force. Everyone i know no longer buy PC games anymore, they download them because you can't refund/sell PC games unless its on ebay or any other net selling site.

Exactly, I will gladly buy more digital if the price is lower. No way in hell I'm dropping full price on a digital game. Further PS+ discounts are always a bonus too.

It's not that the consoles aren't ready, it's the general public that's not ready because of the Comcast,Verizon B.S!!!!

You know as well as I do that MS and Sony would love to go all digital so they could really stick it to us!!:|

If Microsoft and Sony are in talks to make it to where every game is only fully downloadable then maybe it is time for the gaming stores to get with the digital age and find a way to make it to where people can somehow trade their games digitally without fear of buying a game and not liking it. Unfortunately, companies like GameFly would go out of business within time because of the lack of new available games. Sad.

This. I'm stuck with ATT DSL where I live and have a 150 gb cap per month. Downloading full games quickly eats into that, as does watching HD videos. Digital really can't take off until these restrictions get removed.

Not really we still have quite a number of games that don't get released day one digitally. Vita does though, I think it's a rule enforced by Sony so the same should be so for PS4.
