If so, how bad is the screen? I returned my 2000 a couple of months ago in anticipation of the 3000, so now I have crisis core sitting on my desk without a PSP! Should I just wait it out for the 4000?

I recently changed my original PSP-1000 by the PSP-3000. I couldn't be more happy. It has all the enhancements of the PSP-2000 (slimmer and lighter, video output, Skype, more RAM for quicker loading times and better internet browsing), plus the built-in mic and the new LCD screen. IMF, the new screen was the main reason that made me buy a PSP-3000. All the enhancements of the PSP-2000are great, sure, but they alone weren't big enough to make me upgrade to it. But all that with the better LCD screen of the PSP-3000 was too good to pass. About the new LCD screen, well, it's awesome. It has more vibrant colors, yes, but the best improvement, imo, is the better response time. On games like Rondo of Blood (Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles), my original PSP-1000 displayed too much "ghosting" for my tastes, but on the PSP-3000, it's practically non-existent. About the scanlines, i'm yet to see them. I highly recommend the PSP-3000.

I had a PSP 1000 awhile back, but a mate broke it. I got a 3000 2 days ago, & heard about the scan lines. I've yet to notice anything at all though :)

Think the 3000 is better than the 2000? I heard that the picture gets really interlacey during high action scenes in games and movies. Is this true, or just nitpicking?

I have the psp 1000 and 3000 plus my brother has the psp 2000 so pretty much I got access to all three version. About the 3000 try to get a 3002 or higher because I heard that they have less scan lines issue.

I was rather confused when I got my 3000, because I couldn't notice anything. I seriously sat down and put it up to my nose and just looked for scan lines, and yeah I guess when you want to see them -- you can make them out. Otherwise I think this was blown out of proportion thanks to news articles and to people who have never tried the 3000. So will you see them? Maybe. When you do see them, would you rather go back to your old screen? No way.

I just bought my first psp a few weeks ago, I chose the 3000 because I thought a brighter screen would be best, also for the nearly non-existant ghosting.

I don't have any experience with the other models, so I can't really compare but I *think* I can notice the scanlines when playing Tekken, but TBH, I think people are just being nit-picky. The only real reason I think I might know what scan lines are is because I was really looking for what people were talking about.

Now that I've been playing for a while and just disregarded the comments of the scanlines (and don't have anything to compare to) I really don't notice them at all. Maybe I've just gotten used to them, but I love this little sexy vibrant handheld.

*Edit* You might be waiting a while for the psp 4000, it hasn't been announced or anything and I highly doubt one would come out in 2009, but who knows I could be wrong.

Like others said, it's a little overall better in specs, but the Horizonal lines is a blessing and a curse with the more Vibrant colored sceen which is a huge difference believe me I have access to all 3 models.

On my PSP 3003 I can only notice scan lines when the screen is completeley black. When there is an image on the screen or when im playing games the screen is perfect. Don't beleive anyone who says the 3000 model is rubbish because most people who say that don't have a 3000. I originally got a PSP 1000 when they were released and then I got rid of it, and recently i've got the 3000 and I couldn't be more happy with it.

And the PSP 4000 has been announced, but release dats are still a mystery. Some people say that they acn't wait for the PSP 2, but to be honest even 'if' that comes out the PSP is so good that it would still hold it's own against it.

I'd lose too many features if I upgraded to 3000.

Before I bought my psp 3000 a few days ago I was originally going to get the 2000. The main reason I bought the 3000 was because I got the black ratchet and clank bundle for $159.99 at best buy. This psp is pure awesomeness!! About the scan lines and interlacing; I didn't notice anything. Even if you're looking for it by the time you notice anything (which is extremely subtle), it disappears. I suggest the 3000 it's worth the money. I'm glad I bought it. If you're still worried about the screen buy one at best buy, and if you don't like it you can return it.

I got my 3000 a week or two ago, and I've noticed the scan lines once. And it wasn't that bad when i did notice it. IMO, its not enough of a reason to not get the new one.
