Honestly, I don't care much for rumble but I know some people really want it for driving games.
This also probably means that logitech could make a rumbley SIXAXIS if they really wanted to.

===
PS3 Steering Wheel Force Feedback Works!

I just got Need for Speed: Carbon for the PS3. I put in the disc, booted up the game, selected “Quick Race”, and started playing with my Driving Force Pro. What did I notice?

Force Feedback!

Both the jarring rumble when you crash and the more subtle pulls on the wheel when you start to lose traction with the road. This is with a plain US PS3 and a plain US copy of NFS: Carbon. No special tricks or settings are required for this at all. And this isn’t me quoting someone else, or reading into something. I felt this with my own two hands.

Remember, earlier this month, when waves of web sites reported that the PS3 was uncapable of doing force feedback, even with third party steering wheels? Apparently, testing this out wasn’t hard at all, and this rumor is completely, 100%, categorically untrue.

Of course, none of those sites posted updates or tried to correct this error. Even today, you can Google “ps3 steering wheel force feedback” (no quotes in actual query string) and get links like this, all claiming that this is impossible and even officially confirmed as such by Sony themselves:

Ars Technica
Playfeed
Kotaku
1UP.com
Gizmodo
Joystiq
Destructoid
Netscape Games

Embarrassingly, even this blog reported on this story:
PS3Blog.net - PS3 doesn’t support force feedback

However, we did update this rather quickly.

UPDATE: Many people say Ridge Racer 7 also supports force feedback (I couldn’t test myself). The free GT:HD doesn’t support force feedback.

Other very minor changes.

the PS3 games wont have rumble, they wont  program rumble in PS3 games period. 1st or 3rd party. Go ask Sony.. PS2 games already are programmed in the games so no suprised there :)

yeah, it was a MAJOR relief to know that ff is possible with the dfp on the ps3...and TC is correct nfs:carbon IS ff enabled (i played it too)!

apparently it's up to the game dev.'s to program it into the games...but still confusing to know that F1 CE & Motorstorm will not enable it ? :?

even gthd doesn't have it...but there's no doubt in mind that GT5 will support it completely!
hopefully there will be other racing games avail. that support it before gt5 is released?

it's probably alot of extra work to accomodate the sixasis motion alone, not to mention programming ff to a minority of gamers...unfortunately!

2 tears in a bucket, if that don't fill it f... it

if RR7 does support rumble(like the article states), then you are obviously wrong.

the reason that F1 and Motorstorm don't support rumble is because they are both first party games. You can almost be guaranteed that any 1st party game will not support rumble. However, 3rd party games may support rumble, as seen in NFS:Carbon and RR7.

No one can be guaranteed anything, it can always be relased in a patch if SONY ever gets off its butt and sorts out our rumble woes.

considering it'll take 2nd place to the sixasis and the need to get games out & avail. for the ps3 now...i'm not complaining?

but in the future 1st party and every party should program ff into racing games...it seriously enhances the gameplay not to mention people (myself included) paid $150 for this logitech dfp wheel for the playstation !

no excuses...support gamers!

ok, well it's guaranteed until Sony decides they want to allow rumble. until then, no first party games will support rumble.

- gran turismo is a 1st party game and if GT5 doesn't have true force feedback (screw rumble)...it will definately change alot of peoples opinion of the game...i'm sure Polythony Digital knows this and will deliver the goods!

- even though gthd is fun to play without it once you get the hang of the game and it looks fantastic, but it's just a free demo...but the game (gt5) better have force feedback for wheel support and i'm sure it will...it is a must imo!
