So I finally got one ...

So yesterday came my new PS3. I put off until forever to get one, but now I just couldnt resist with the main titles I wanted being Madden 09, GTA4, and MGS4. Well, I got GTA4 and MGS4 now, but I don't even think Ill buy Madden 09 after playing that demo from the PSN Store, any input?

Anyways, I wouldn't mind adding a couple of people to my friends list, I am in South Carolina, so feel free to add me: PressureX86

Btw, my fiance hates me right now, but she'll get over it ;)

Thanks guys. I have it somewhat figured out.... but not quiet, lol. I guess trophies are only available through certain games, and that "home" (virtual world thing) isnt out yet?

thats is a project that helps people at some university to help cure cancer and other diseases ,but it eats up ur electricity, when on u've been warned

Anyways, yea guys, feel free to add me and dont be afraid to talk either :) I would love to get to know some people to possibly play with, like I said, i only have GTA4 and MGS4 right now, Im still trying to get the hang of MGS4 though, never really played a game like that beside maybe Splinter Cell, and I quit after 2 days, lol/

Uhhh, not quite cure cancer... It's a project where, as a PS3 owner, you can join. Basically, in the background, your PS3 does some computations that form part of a larger computation whose aim is to solve a problem in the biomedical sciences -- "cure cancer" is still a long way's off. To have any effect, you should leave your PS3 on and let it compute while you're away or sleeping. And be connected to the Internet so that it can communicate with the main server to get "work units". Of course, it's using electricity, so if you don't want to do that, don't do it.

I don't run it, so I wouldn't know if it stops calculating while you are playing games, etc.

You can join the same project if you have a PC and in fact for PCs, this has been around for at least 10 years (i.e., SETI...search for extra-terrestrial life). In those cases, it would be installed as a screen saver and when your screen saver kicks in, it does some computation. But same thing...you need to leave your PC on. So, energy-wise, leaving your PC on for this is as "bad" as leaving your PS3 on...so, your choice...
