So, I just bought a PS2...

...and while I knew it was an older generation and the PS4 (5?) is out now, it's still somewhat weird that this site doesn't even have a section for the PS2?

The biggest selling console of all time, not worth talking about? Or am I somehow missing the PS2 section?

Get Dragonquest 8, Tales of the Abyss, Rogue Galaxy, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 1 and 2, Tenchu Wrath of Heaven.

This. instead of a legacy board there are no one console generation boards anymore, hence this is for all sony systems including handhelds, Nintendo board is for all from nes to 3ds, and on and on.

And yeah I recommend both Grand Theft auto the trilogy package, Resident evil 4, and Shadow of the Collosuss. Most fun I had with that system.

It is just that the PS4 is the current console and PS3 has sold 81 million consoles. While PS2 is the highest selling videogame system of all time. It is just most people are currently playing PS4 and PS3 consoles. But this is the Playstation discussion area.

So you should be able to talk about Playstation 2 if you want.

PS2 is not popular anymore. You cannot expect gaming sites to have an easy navigation to classic platforms. You can look up older titles by using the search function on right upper side of the screen. You can still find old reviews and info on PS2 titles that way. I would suggest using Youtube at this point for your classic needs to be honest.

I got a PS2 few days ago, been playing kingdom hearts, starwars battlefront, simpsons and lord of the rings games that I got with it. Its gotten more playtime then my PS4 in just the few days I've owned it. Can't beat them classics

Lol I just got an email from EB games saying if you trade in your old PS2 working or not, they'll give you $20 store credit. How much did you pay for it mate?

How much? 440 ringgit, unused in box. That's about $130 or so.. :o)

They're still selling plenty of them new here, the shop I visited had about 30 piled up, still in boxes, still with shrinkwrap. They have the 3 and 4 but prices are crazy (probably due to import tax?) Games however are dirt cheap, about 5 ringgit will get you a CD with a game on it, I'm from the UK and daft enough to want to buy original disks, though they're hard to find here. Ebay has some but you have to be careful as many are American and NSTC, not the UK/Malaysian/Much of the World PAL system.

I've made a note of all the games mentioned, thanks! Now off to see if I can find them :o)

Anyone know of a good place that does PAL PS2 games and international shipping?

As an aside, when I came here 10 years ago I brought an Xbox 1 with me. It died with the red light thing after 3 years. Logically I should have got an 360 but really we just bought a new TV so figured I'd use the old one in the corner for games, so went for the cheapest option - the PS2 :o)

I got my PS2 for $5 at a garage sale. It came with GTA:SA and two wireless controllers

@BackInMyDay: well mine came with 10 games I could pick. So there's that? I was originally looking for a 2nd hand one but they hold their value here. In local version of Craigslist about 300 ringgit, but first one I looked at came up with the words "disk malfunction" while the guy was talking. Decided I might as well get new.

PS2 is still really great, I'd suggest getting a copy of Drakan: The Ancients' Gates, a really fun RPG and you can also fly on a dragon and have aerial combat along with on foot combat as the main character.

I suspect, I hope, I'll mainly use the ps2 for my nephews when they visit but I'd like a handful of great games for me too 8-)
