The only thing I can say is create a couple of save files as you play it because there are a lot of bugs and glitches in the PS3 version. That way if you run into one of the glitches you can start from a previous save and not have to start the game totally over. I ran into a glitch where I wasn't able to complete a quest early in the game because a door that was suppose to be unlocked was locked and the guy on the intercom kept telling me to quit bothering him because the door is unlocked. I ended up having to max out my lock picking skill, and then I just broke into the side entrance door. Other than that just prepare yourself for an awesome and really immersive game. I blew about 75 hours of my life on a single play throughFallout 3, and enjoyed every minute of it.

What bugs and glitches are you talking about?
I'm level 18 and I didn't see a single bug/glitch in the game yet.

Btw started a new game now on very hard level and jesus christ It's allot and I mean allot harder then the normal level, I mean there is just no comparison in difficulty Even throwing a grenade on an enemy and critically hitting him when he can't see you won't kill some of the stronger enemies now :(.

Not any particular advice, if this is your first time playing - just put your points into whatever makes you happy.

Have fun, that's the rule. ;)

Dont use skill books until you get the perk that doubles the increase. It'll make you a much more well rounded character.

when you're chosing your S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats think about what kind of character you're playing as.Try to have high intelligence (atleast 7 if you can) , I personally found it very usefull throughout the game. But ofcourse it is YOUR game so whatever you think is best for you will always work fine.

Use V.A.T.S as much as possible. Blowing a super mutants head off never gets old! :P

make your choices wisely depending on what Karma level you are playing for.

Sell anything you don't want or need, it will just make your character slow. Repair your weapons whenever possible, so if you can try and carry 2 or 3 of the same weapon when out in the wasteland. Pick up ALL ammo you find. It doesn't weigh anything and even if you don't need it you can sell it.

Save the game as frequently as you can, particularly when you're about to enter a building.

Don't feel that you have to rush through the main story line. Try and explore and do as many side quests as you can before you finish the main quest, you can't go back when it's over unless you have a previous save file.

and most importantly have fun!

I played about 90 hours on my first play through and only found 1 or 2 glitches, (the worst glitch I had was when I first stored a load of stuff in a locker and it all disappeared, so be cautious when doing this and save before storing anything important) although some people have encountered a lot more. Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones! for me the game was pretty much perfect.

Enjoy the game :D

They patched out the major glitches, so I wouldn't worry about that.

And yeah, Intelligence is a good stat to build up -- gives you more skill points when levelling up, which is very helpful. Strength is always good as well, as it lets you carry more stuff. But like the others said, just have a good time with it. And, like Oblivion, they give you a chance to re-allocate your skill points before venturing out into the larger world. Before you leave the first area, you might want to create a save file so you won't have to play the first part over and over again.

oh yeah I forgot about Strength. Seems like an obvious tip :P

the Strong Back perk will also let you carry more equipment.

You'll find that Fallout 3 turns out to be an impressivly personal game. The style in which you choose to explore the wasteland will be your own and I would recommend that your plough your own furrow in that regard. Having said that, there are a couple of things I will mention. First, if you see or hear a big explosion in the sky and perhaps see numerous power cells lying scattered around all over the floor. Head towards it. You'll want to find it and it'll be damn hard if you don't go straight away. Second, if you happen upon vault 112 in the course of your general exploration, don't go it. It has the potential to skip a chunk of story before it is revealed naturally.

No problem. I'm always happy to help a fellow gamer.

I played most of the game in 3rd person, but thats just my personal preference with most games. I found it most helpful while exploring, but when shooting without V.A.T.S it is best to change to first person view. play around with it as you can change it at any time to see which view you are more comfortable with. S.P.E.C.I.A.L are the stats you chose in the beginning of the game, and affect certain skills and dialogue actions in the game. it will all be explained once you start.

The world is pretty much just one HUGE open space, but you can fast travel to places you have been before so you won't have to walk for miles every time you need to backtrack.

another tip. don't go too far north while you're at a low level. you'll thank me later :P

Don't become overwhelmed once you begin your adventure. It may seem like you have no idea what to do, but just make it to the Megaton and take things from there.

Also, like some people said before, have multiple save files going at once and save often. Also, once you beat the main quest the game is over! Make sure to create a save file before venturing out to do the last quest in case you want to do more stuff.

I thought the best part of the game was the exploration part. Every place you visit divulges a little bit more about the interesting Fallout 3 universe. It becomes more and more addictive as time goes on because you want to learn about the inhabitants of the Wasteland and the history of how the world came to be.

The Vaults are FREAKY places...

I would also advise staying away from the northern part of the map at the beginning of the game unless you choose to go get the Alien Blaster early in the game. The Alien Blaster is one of the best weapons in the game and can be found north west of Minefield.

It's good to have as an ace in the hole if you ever get trapped by Deathclaws, Supermutant Behemoths, Raiders, or Supermutants.

I would also recommend starting in Megaton and then doing Lucy West's "Arefu" quest first. It's not very difficult and it allows you to gain some levels and do some exploration before really delving deep into the world.

Take the time to fully complete Moira's Wasteland survival Guide quest. Not only does it give you extra perks when you complete it, but it also makes the quest A LOT more interesting.

Wow. That page really makes me want to start playing Fallout 3. Some great tips there and perfect for getting started. Take a good look at this SPECIAL page too as it will affect your entire game and cannot be changed after you leave the Vault. Your last opportunity is when you're about to go out the Vault door into the outside world.
