So I'm getting a PS3 :D

I'm giving away my Xbox to my cousin and instead going to snag up a PS3 slim for $299.

I was wondering a few things a new PS user might need. Like must have accessories, some games that I can buy that are cheap but still good, or just tips in general I should know about the PS3 before getting it.

I'm getting slim now since the price drop, I only had an xbox 360 for this gen. I'm picking up a PS3 for its exclusives!! Can't wait!

Well, since the PS3 (fat or slim) doesn't come with component cables, or an HDMI cable, you're going to want to invest in either one of those. (Go with HDMI if you have a 1080p HDTV) :D

I would invest in an extra controller if you are going to play co-op with someone on the same PS3. The only other accesory you will need is a long USB cord because the one that comes with the PS3 is short and you can actually charge your PS3 while you play. Games get Uncharted, KZ2, MGS4, R1 &2, HS, R&C TOD, VC and LBP(even though it is a little overrated). Also, congrats on a great choice to come back from the dark side. LOL. You will enjoy your PS3.

Well get KZ2 if you want the best FPS exclusive on the PS3.

Congrads, but why give away your 360? Personally I would just get a PSN card, a second controller, and a headset if you use it. Get Killzone 2 and MGS4 for sure. Twig978

Do people feel it is against the law to have two game systems or something? Dont give your snot nosed cousin your 360! What are you supposed to play Splinter Cell, Halo,and Mass Effect on? A computer? Try again! What about all those achievments you got? All those Xbox Live Arcade games you have? All your XBL friends that will miss you? Why not have a PS3 AND a 360???

Same. Except, I'm not geting the Slim. I say, you need some exclusives and HDMI cables if you have an HDTV.

Well, kudos for being one of the few kind hearted people left (atleast in these forums). I also gave my 360 to a family member after I got my PS3.

Get the official Headset from Sony, maybe get the SOCOM bundle which comes with the headset. A second controller, never hurts to have a second one around.

MGS4 is a must buy @$30, Uncharted will be $30 by the time you get your PS3, Killzone 2.

Oh ya, if you want to play the best baseball sim ever, get MLB The Show 09, trust me on this, if you enjoy sports games you'll be amazed by it.
