So I'm getting my girlfriend a Playstation...

A Playstation 2 that is. I'm posting this in the PS3 forum because I am a PS3 user and I feel at home here :) Anyway, I chose to get her the PS2 due to a) money, as it isn't expensive and I know she won't want to shell out $60 a game in the future for it and b) the huge selection of good games. She's not really all into the next-gen so it's a perfect fit for her. (but she's big on video games) My question is: What types of games should I get her for the PS2? I'm sure a good bit of you guys are PS2 veterans so I ask your advice. She said she looked around and wants Kingdom Hearts 2. But hasn't really made any other decisions on what else she wants. Right now she's all into her Nintendo DS and plays alot of kiddy type games though like Donkey Kong, Puzzle Quest and Final Fantasy. (what else do you expect it's Nintendo lol) But when she saw me play Devil May Cry 4 on my PS3 she thought it was badass and also thought Ninja Gaiden Sigma was cool so I'm thinking of getting her Devil May Cry 3 for the PS2. She's into more fantasy type games, not realistic shooters or anything. So you guys have any ideas? Thanks!

Well if she's into Final Fantasy, then maybe FFX, FFX-2 and FFXII (in particular) are worth a look. And maybe FFVII and FFVIII, being PSX games they'll still work in PS2, however, it's just getting hold of copies nowadays that's a problem. And if she liked the look of DMC4, then DMC1 and 3 are very good additions to any collection. And a similar game to DMC is God of War (and GoW II), both are hack-and-slash action packed titles.

DMC3 isnt exactly the easiest game out there... That might be a little too challenging compared to the other games that you say she has been playing.

get her ffx and ffx-2 cuz ffx-2 has girl main characters if she cares about that but if she doesnt still get those 2 games for her

Get her Suikoden III. I didn't really like Suikoden IV. And I'm guessing since you're kind of money strapped, you wouldn't want to get her my favorite Suikoden (Suikoden II, which is on Playstation, and sells for a whole lot on eBay.)

Monster Rancher 3 is a fun game too.

I actually think a PS2 is better because its got a good range of RPG titles and a bigger catalogue of games. I'd say get FFX and X-2 as well as Kingdom Hearts 1 +2. Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle are also good.polarmanda

I suggest getting her a Wii rather than a PlayStation product, because it's fun, more kiddish, and cheap.

There are times when PlayStation isn't the best answer, and when it comes to girls, they like the Wii more (to my experience)

But if she's a hardcore gamer, then go ahead and get her a PS product.

Yea I bowl on it all the time with my sister and nephew and even some of the guys down the street a few times. And even thow Its not exact. "I bowl some in real life as a off hobby, so I averaged around 200, have a real perfect game and a ring." Its still that fun. Wii's a great system to pick up and play.

If she likes Ninja gaiden and DMC4 than buy her the GOD OF WAR games, they are the best ps2 games ever made and they fit your girls type of game.

Oh yea!! the first one "Sands of Time" is a great game. The other 2 were good. But Sands of Time was it.

Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 are amazing.

make sure she plays the first one before the sequel though, helps to understand the character development.

Get her Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. Not only are they great games (and fairly accessible), but they have rather strong stories. My girlfriend cried when she got to the end of Shadow of the Colossus.

By the way, there's nothing wrong with getting her a PS2. Don't listen to the suggestions for the Wii- my girlfriend initially wanted that, but as she's learned how to play, she's more interested in PS2/3 games.
