So I'm thinking about only buying ONE game throughout years end...ugh

I'm trying to save all the money I can for a new car, and I feel like gaming is one of the biggest money sucking hobbies I have so I'm trying to hold off from buying all these games this fall and winter...The problem is, you guys know how many awesome games are coming out soon. Resistance 3, Dead Island, Team Ico collection, Dark Souls, Uncharted 3, MW3, BF3, Rage, Twisted Metal....

I'm trying to narrow it down to just ONE. Maybe two...Such a troubling decision...

*for the sake of abiding by "the rules," um...do you feel like your gaming hobby has kept you from saving money...or something... :|

I'd suggest posting in the recommendation thread, but I would go with Uncharted 3.

Wasn't gonna do "Dead Island" at first, but it looks like a game I can finally get into... Looks like they hit the experience I was looking for in a zombie game. "Dead Rising" and "Left4Dead" never really spun me, but the gameplay for "Dead Island" I've seen has me sold. Unfortunately enough for my wallet!

Thanks guys...I was trying my hardest to not make it seem like I was seeking game recommendations, or to make it seem like a blog entry. But for the record, every single person that says "blog it" sounds like an a-hole. I don't spend all my time on the computer so I don't have 500 GS friends that would see a blog if I posted it. The fact is that NO ONE would see a blog if I posted it. Ever. Instead maybe leave a constructive and relative comment. MC-Reap

Also, I understand, and like I said before, I would go with Uncharted 3. The multiplayer looks superb, and it'll have an amazing single player experience.

Just get an RPG that you can sink a ton of time into, like Skyrim or Dark Souls, and an online game to play with friends, such as Battlefield 3 or MW3 (depending on what your friends get). There. That's two games that should last you a long time and keep you satisfied.

I decided to choose 3 for the next couple months. I'm actually in the exact same boat, except I'm saving for both a new car and a new deposit on an apartment.

I went with Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Skyrim because I know they'll offer multiple playthroughs and have vast worlds for me to explore. I also chose Uncharted 3 since I have a bunch of friends getting it and we'll play co op. There are tons others I want, but if you wait a little while they go down in price pretty quickly. I just got Singularity for $11, for example. Which is too bad, since I can't play it :P

maybe its best if you buy the games you want this year, and start saving for the car after you get the games you want. because honestly this years amazing holiday season is like none other this generation. thats just my opinion.

Obviously if you can only get one game, you're going to want something that can last you a long time. Therefore, if I were in your situation, I would either get a very long RPG (something along the lines of Skyrim or Dark Souls) or a shooter with a very heavy multiplayer component (aka Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3). Your choice, and depends on what you like of course.

Why are so many people ignoring Deus Ex, and the other under the radar games like The Cursed Crusade, Silent Hill: Downpour (only under the radar thanks to Homecoming which wasn't that bad), and even Twisted Metal isn't that big (well ok, the E3 footage looked kind of weak). But Deus Ex, come on, that game looks fantastic.

Back to the original topic, I know how gaming, especially this year can take a toll on the wallet. I'll probably do like last year and get 2 or 3 big games of the year and wait a few months to get the others at substantially lower prices (I was able to pick up a lot of really good games this summer, all for under $30).

I'm getting Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. I figure with both campaigns, co-op modes and endless multiplayer, the two will last me a LONG time.

Thats a death sentence if im in your situation! Well since you can get 2, go w/ Uncharted 3 and skyrim! dark soul is a love or hate game because of difficulty, i like demon soul though.. For mecompare to pc fps is not good on console so better skip that..

Personally Skyrim would have to be in that list, I would not feel right about myself if I picked up R3 instead of Skyrim. It would be an injustice against myself. Other than Skyrim I would go for Deus Ex, Rage or Arkham City, probably leaning more towards Arkham than the others.

That being said Uncharted 3 is the game I'm getting. I don't care if all my friends are getting BF3 or MW3 I love Uncharted more than those games combined.

Wait until the first or second week in October before buying any games. ToysRUs always has the buy 2 get one free sale around that time of year.
